We are looking for experienced horse riders to work with young horses. You will be doing all your riding on a beautiful beach in Ireland. We live in Rural Ireland by a small village by the sea in Wexford called Rosslare Strand.

We live in the beautiful sunny south east in Rosslare Strand, Co. Wexford Ireland, (1 mile from the beach). You would live in a self catering apartment with other Workawayers from various countries. It is a shared bedroom, mod cons; Wifi, big smart tv, Netflix and loads of other channels, dishwasher and washing machine, full kitchen etc. The apartment sleeps 4.
The apartment is on our 3 acre property where Tom , myself and the horses reside. You will be asked to do various tasks for 25 hours a week, we are very flexible, just let us know what days you prefer off. Horse workers may be asked to do Gardening/cleaning/maintenance type work. Depends on how much horse work is on that week. Expect up to approx. 8 hours/ week in general maintenance type work. However, there are often many weeks that horses will be full on.
We live by the train, buses and we provide you with bikes to cycle around the village and to the beach. We have a cold pool and outdoor sauna that you will have full access to use them. We provide your food and utensils, you will have plenty of free time to explore this beautiful Island. Contact us if you think you may be interested. We have lots of cats and dogs, so a general love of animals is nice to have as well :-)

Rosslare Strand is the 'sunny southeast' , a very popular destination for tourists. Particularly in the summer time and is also lovely in the autumn. It is very beautiful. If you are a city slicker, it is a great contrast, if you are a country bumpkin, then you will feel right at home whilst learning English.

We are committed to ensuring the well-being and happiness of our horses and those who work with them. Our horses are kept in great condition from paddocks to stables and keeping them well cared for is a top priority. We are laid back and realise that you are engaging with us for an experience and a cultural exchange and believe we can offer both to you.

My stay was very enriching! Theresa always helps with everything and is really supportive!! The horses are sweet, but also quite spirited, so it’s only for very experienced riders!! I loved the cooking and baking together with my roommate and Theresa & Tom made sure that you have everything for eating. Unfortunately, the organization was often lacking with last minute plans which made preparing the horses really stressful.
However, Tom and Theresa were really open for the feedback and listened to us.
If you are flexible and a skilled rider this is a good place for you

Tom and Theresa were very kind and welcoming. They always made sure we had what we need as they really want you to feel at home. However this was not the experience for me. The description used to be unclear about the active state of racing for the horses. This was hard for me, as if i had known i wouldn’t have come. There were also tensions with other volunteers, but Tom and Theresa were very helpful with what was addressed. Tom is very “go with the flow”, so be prepared to ask for clarifications if this is not your style. If you are into racing, you can learn a lot here, hosts were great :)

My volunteering experience at Theresa's and Tom's farm was incredible. Tom trusted us a lot, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We spent plenty of time together riding and working around the horses,. They gave us the opportunity to spend meaningful time with them, and that trust made the whole experience even more enriching. One of the absolute highlights were the race days, really enjoyable.
This is an experience you can genuinely enjoy, especially if you love animals. If you come with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the desire to get involved, it's your place.

I spent just over a month at the Lyng House and would genuinely call it a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our days consisted of daily horse care to morning gallops and farm work. I quickly befriended another volunteer with whom I shared the good facilities and endless laughter with from tractor driving to biking to the local pubs. Tom and Teresa were always accommodating, welcoming and patient. My highlights were endless but particularly the beach rides and big race days. I couldn’t recommend this enough to horse lovers with a good attitude and work ethic. Thank you again Tom and Teresa!

I had a great time here! Tom and Theresa are so nice and accommodating, and I am happy to have found some friends in the other volunteers. We stayed in a cozy guest house and the town is peaceful. The work was manageable, and Tom let us organise ourselves so we had some free time to explore around. The horses went to a few races and trainings and coming from a different background it was interesting to learn about this world. Working with the horses was lovely, from caring for them at the stables, to riding on the beach and the track. I miss them already and I would come back to visit someday.
