Los Amigos Hostel
First a little bit about Flores Island! The picturesque island of Flores is the capital city of the most northern department of Guatemala:the jungly Petén.
The colonial island is located in the beautiful Lake Petén Itza.For many tourists, the main reason to visit Flores is its proximity to Tikal, the most famous Mayan ruins in Guatemala, which are just a one hour drive away.
Nowadays Flores is a true backpacker hotspot. How could it not be? A lake that’s always the perfect temperature, lush jungle all around and the most beautiful sunsets ever.
All in all, Flores is definitely one of the most tranquilo and safe places in Guatemala
We are very proud of our diverse team, made up of young and older people, all of them 100% local. The Los Amigos staff counts approximate 50 beautiful souls that you will be working closely with. Talking about a full cultural immersion! We are a very friendly family ! the jokes and nick names will not miss it ! you will invite to joing to parties and visit to different places around and for sure you will improve your spanish, You will be one of us !

I truly loved my experience at Los Amigos Hostel, especially during the Christmas season. Diego and Jeorgie are very attentive, kind, and flexible.
We were accommodated in a house located just next to the hostel, which was very convenient. The breakfasts were excellent, though the dinner portions could sometimes be a bit small. Especially for those of us working until 1am.
One aspect that could be improved is communication. Some information was not shared or I received it very late. For example, I only found out on my last day that we had access to free kayaks.

It was truly a very beautiful experience. I loved volunteering at Los Amigos. The staff team is wonderful and made me feel at home. The hours are exactly as agreed, the volunteer house has everything you need, and the hostel is absolutely beautiful. I definitely recommend it!! =)

I had an amazing time volunteering at Los Amigos Hostel.
The place is chill but still has some great parties.
The breakfast is amazing, and the volunteers’ kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook for yourself.
Working at the bar is really easy, and I think anyone, even with no experience, can do it. Basically, you just need to mix drinks.
The schedule is very clear, and I had lots of free time to explore around.

I had an amazing time at los amigos teaching yoga in a little paradise. Working hours and tasks are definitely doable but most importantly most of the staff is amazing! They made me feel like family real quick.
There is loads of time to explore Flores and the area around which was great.
Breakfast was amazing 🫘 but dinner could be improved.
Diego will make sure you feel comfortable and welcome at all times. Can’t wait to be back one day! ✨

I had an incredible time at Los amigos; the people I’ve meet during my staying was lovely and u can really live the flores experience in an immersive way !!
Big shoutout to Diego who made the staying experience an incredible adventure, always with great energy and new plans for the volunteers !!
Most of the staff is very lovely and they make u feel at home since day 1!
In the other side I wouldn’t recommend u the bartender position if u are not in to going late to bed or partying in general; weekends can be pretty tough but the staff is always friendly and flexible to hear u and help !
