La Casa de las Estrellas
The animal sanctuary and rescue center is a unique place for a volunteering experience. There is a variety of rescued animals, who are all treated and cared for as individuals. There is the opportunity to spend time with and connect to the animals, as well as learn about them and their needs.
I am happy to share everything with the people living at my place. I would like people to be part of the community, help each other out, and treat everybody, including animals and the surroundings, with respect. We also share meals together and we want to respect all types of diets, and expect the same from our volunteers.

I stayed at the shelter for 4 1/2 weeks and it was an amazing experience. We got picked up by the owner and she also drove us back to the airport. She is very kind and tries to do everything as good as possible.
The tasks for the week are always planned in advance and you can always communicate with the manager if you have preferences about what to work. You need to be aware that you live together with all kind of animals. Because of this there are also rats in the house. I really enjoyed the experience and would totally recommend the stay!

Even tho the first few days at La Casa de las Estrellas were a bit overwhelming for me as there was so many new things to learn, so many animals to take care of and I wasn’t used to a off grid lifestyle either, the more time I spent there the more I adapted to these things and grew to love it. The place is truly wonderful, I met so many amazing people from all over the world there. Work was good as well and sometimes there would even be time to go to the beach in the afternoon. Casa de las Estrellas, the people i met there and the animals will forever have a place in my heart.

La Casa de Las Estrellas es un lugar perfecto para desconectar de la vida cotidiana.
El paisaje del lugar es increíble. Los animales son rescatados y muchos de ellos presentan traumas por lo que ha de tenerse en cuenta que algunos sean agresivos, otros dominantes o incluso miedosos, por lo que es un trabajo que requiere de paciencia.
Además, el vínculo que he creado con algunos animales, el equipo y los voluntarios es hermoso. Los momentos más mágicos eran las comidas que compartíamos juntos.
Un placer ayudar a Liala a construir conciencia sobre el cuidado de los animales.

The work is simple, you have to give the animals food and medication when needed, and clean. The finca is surrounded by nature and you can reach the sea on foot. The accommodation has limited resources, which leads you to an awareness of the environmental footprint. The close contact with the animals can be challenging at times as it is difficult to have moments of silence and tranquility. Unfortunately we were not told that the shower only works in a narrow time slot, but only that there is no hot water.

Unfortunately, we missed the deadline for leaving official feedback – so we’re sharing our thoughts here in the comments.
Noemi carried out the tasks assigned to her in a conscientious and well-organized manner. She was great with cleaning and did a good job in the kitchen: together with Roberto, she often ensured that everyone had something nice to eat. Interaction with people and animals remained rather neutral and sometimes showed little emotional engagement.
