Guest House in Hiroshima, Japan

Hiroshima is a great place to start to become familiar with Japanese language, customs and marvels. People who live in Hiroshima are one of the most friendly people in Japan, they love to communicate with foreign people from all over the world. Some local people often stop at our hostel and talk to the guests. It's really common to exchange culture in Hiroshima!

Type of help: We are looking for volunteers that can stay a minimum of one month or longer
Cleaning is around approximately 2 - 3 hours a day, 4 days a week.
FYI, If you are planning to stay longer than two months, paid work is also available :) Please reach out!
Reception work (for long stay volunteers, a little Japanese required) would be about 3-4 hours a day, 5 days per week!

*PLEASE NOTE that if you have a Tourist visa you will not be able to join us. Let us know if you have a Working Holiday Visa, a Working visa or a Student visa since these visas will allow you to work legally in Japan.

We are always welcome for new members to our team! We stay, work, and often eat together. If you are a person who loves to socialize with new people from all over the world, here is the best place :) Santiago Guesthouse has branches in Kyoto and Naha(Okinawa). Volunteers with experience in the Santiago group can be given priority. Would you like to visit three popular cities in Japan.

I had a great time working at Santiago Guesthouse Hiroshima! Eva and Mario were very nice and got me up to speed fast, we had a pizza party to get to know all the new starters as well. The work was easy most day and you can finish when you’re done, that does mean that some days you have more tasks and less staff so you might finish a bit later but that’s ok. The location is super central, right next to the peace park and by lots of food and shopping centres to explore. I recommend this place to anyone thinking about spending some time in Hiroshima!!

Had an amazing time here!! Work is straightforward and as long as there are enough volunteers it's done easy. Location is perfect, very central, close to the typical tourist attractions and easy to go out. You sleep in a dorm of about 25 beds with staff and guests. Can get hectic but overall it's good. The team is really nice! Mario and Eva really do their best to emerge you in Japanese culture and if you're lucky with the other volunteers/guests this can be a really social hostel!

Santiago was my third volunteering experience, and it has been my favourite so far!
The work is straightforward, with ample free time to enjoy the beautiful city of Hiroshima.
Although the guesthouse is situated in a fantastic location, the cosy air-conditioned common room claimed me for many days during Japan's summer!

The staff were always welcoming, understanding, and happy to help on busy days or with shift changes.
¡Gracias y hasta pronto!
