Esk Valley Homestay

Escape to a quiet, scenic corner of rural Hawke’s Bay and help me get my lovely home ready for sale between October and December. I’m recovering from a hand injury and would love a hand with gardening, cleaning, decluttering, and light maintenance 🧹🪴.

You’ll share the space with me and a sweet German Shepherd 🐾, enjoying a comfortable private room in the downstairs part of the house, shared kitchen and living room, and relaxed, flexible hours (4–5 per day).

Plenty of trips to town for supplies, walks with the dog, BBQ, bonfires and stargazing.

In your free time, soak up the stunning views, go for peaceful walks, or explore all that this beautiful region has to offer 🌄. Your accommodation is private and Internet is available. If you enjoy hands-on work, nature, and calm living, I’d love to welcome you into this special space 💛.

Andre & Hinata (his dog) were so nice and welcoming! The house was cozy and the work was totally ok. :)

Andre was an awesome host and has such a beautiful property! His dog is so sweet and very fun to play with. The tasks were easy to do and once you get them done, you have time to explore and hangout the rest of the day. It was cool to meet other volunteers and I enjoyed my time volunteering with Andre.

Andre is a friendly and relaxed host. The amount of work was very fair and I had a nice and cozy room to myself. Andre always made sure we were ok with the work and that we had (more than) enough to eat ;)! I appreciated how flexible he was with the duration of the stay, since planning while travelling can be difficult. Also his dog Hinata is very sweet and playful and was definitley a highlight of my stay!

I loved my time there. Andre was a super Host, and especially hinata (the dog). It was a nice place to stay and the amount of work was perfect and pretty easy to learn. I did a little bit of gardening and housecleaning, and had a lot of freetime. There were other travellers so you got to meet other people and just have a good time. Would really recommend this place.

We had a very comfortabel place at Andres, we mainly did gardening and house cleaning tasks. The area itself was remote, so it was less convenient to do something in the area. But Andre was flexible to drop us off and pick us up somewhere during our days off. Andre was friendly and we had a lot of food to eat!
