Dresti House

We need volunteers who want to come to our elementary school to teach English to our students and live a real volunteer experience. We offer our best smile and kindness to make it a memorable and enriching experience that you will always remember all your life. You don't need a high level of English because we need to practice a basic level. You can also play volleyball at break and share activities with teachers and children. In the afternoons you have free time to go out by bike, run or walk through the beautiful rural environment of rice fields. You can also go to the beach by bike. You will have wyfi at home and at school. My family is very welcoming and you will be one more in our house. We will cook delicious food for you every day. On weekends you can explore the island or maybe rent a motorcycle, it is a wonderful adventure to get to the waterfalls of the rivers in the forests of the north of the island.

I am the principal of a rural school and my fellow teachers are good people and very friendly, we are all looking forward to meeting you and we will give you our best kindness. Life here is simple and sincere. Our facilities are humble but we try to offer the best education to our students.

The experience of this volunteering has been wonderful and enriching, as well as a great opportunity to get to know Balinese culture and locals.

At school the atmosphere is great and at all times I received very good treatment, both from the teachers and from the children.

As for the host Dresti, he is a wonderful person who has been super attentive at all times and I have felt like I was at home. He has a lovely family who have also made this experience unique, pleasant and unforgettable.

Without a doubt, a piece of my heart has remained there

I had the opportunity to be volunteer at Dresti's elementary school with my friend Ines. The children were extremely interested in learning and improving their English and participated in all the exercises, even though they were a little shy at first. Normally, classes are from 9 to 11, and then you can play with them. The second week, we also taught at junior school classes. Dresti made us feel like part of his family! He also told us about life in Indonesia and took us to see Bali's largest temple, Besakih, and offered us a trip to Mount Agung, but the weather wasn’t good when we could

Dresti gave me a warm welcome. The room is in a very good condition, with private bathroom. The meals were far some of the best I have eaten in Indonesia. The work at school was quite simple, only 1 or 2 hours of classes per day. Personally I wish I could have done more. The children are very enthusiastic about learning new things. In the afternoon you are free and you can go for a walk but you have to pay a cab for it, because everything touristic and even a coffees or stores are far from the house. The house is located in the middle of the jungle mountain. There’s no wifi.

I very much enjoyed my time at the school. The children are delightful, their light shines so bright and they seemed always excited to find me and the other volunteer teacher. It seems I appeared during a period when their schedule is reduced due to exams and upcoming holidays and I could happily have given more lessons than the 1-2 hours four days per week. The little ones are amazing regardless. Wayan and family all lovely. Do note their place is quite remote, so having your own transport would be very helpful for adventures in your free time. Feel free to message me for advice!
