I was grateful to Peter for welcoming me to Coimbra at the end of my trip. The old town has some charming spots with live music, but beyond that many streets felt neglected and full of waste. For a more sensitive traveler, already by the second day the atmosphere can feel heavy, like walking among the shadows of the past. The apartment was comfortable and spacious, yet located in that same quarter with its oppressive mood. Peter is very volunteer-focused and truly supports making the most of the stay. The Erasmus students in the house were also genuinely kind, which made the experience valuable

Is 2 stars out of 5 for me? For the accommodation? For the volunteer experience? For the tasks? The Worldpackers platform isn't Google Maps, where you write restaurant reviews, nor is it a private blog where you write about your travels and the places you visit...

Coimbra is a nice University town, the Erasmus students were very nice and we all lived together as roommates and everything went pretty good in the house! The work consisted in cleaning the apartments that are situated at about 20min walk and also your own apartment and the one aside it. I could plan ahead on which days I would do the cleaning and sometimes there are little things that you must help with (like helping fixing a sink or checking if the apartment is okay after a stormy night, nothing too difficult). Pedro is a very nice person, thank you truly🥰

A great first volunteer experience! Coimbra is a beautiful city and is easily accessible to explore the rest of Portugal. Pedro was encouraging to travel as much as we could during the experience. I truly enjoyed meeting the other volunteers and spending time around the city.

This was my first volunteer experience, and I ended up only staying for 2 nights in Coimbra because the host (Pedro) needed someone in his other place, Alicante, last minute. So the place is really nice, It’s really comfortable and you have your own private place. The girls who were also there were very nice and welcoming. The work was cleaning in other places, I think it was only 2-3 hours (cleaning the kitchen, a living room and two bathrooms). As far as I saw Coimbra is a really friendly place, there is live music in the evening, really friendly people.
