Join us to restore a temple garden and learn permaculture skills
The experience
Be part of restoring the Ban Yaka Temple garden! Volunteers help clean the temple, make compost, grow trees, care for seedlings, and support small repairs to create a green, thriving space. You’ll also learn practical permaculture techniques with me (Angel), I has been practising and teaching permaculture since 2011. This project continues the forest started by my 90-year-old mother.

Program Details
Our project takes place at a temple in Satuek District in Northeastern Thailand. The main goal is to bring the temple garden back to life, creating a vibrant and sustainable space for the community.
IMPORTANT: Accommodation is at the Green Angel Project House (which is my home and main life project), located 1 km from the temple. Volunteers have access to a kitchen, fan, mosquito net, and free drinking water. Our food is Vegan.
From January to March, the weather is very dry, so we focus on preparing compost instead of planting. Starting in late April, we begin to grow new plants, and by late May, the rainy season helps the garden flourish.
I work closely with volunteers during this process. Together, we make compost using the many dry leaves from the temple’s trees. We build it in layers, like a sandwich. with dry leaves, cow manure, and Effective Microorganisms (EM).
While volunteering, you’ll also have the chance to learn about local herbs and Thai cooking during free time. This is a great opportunity to experience sustainable gardening, cultural exchange, and community life.
