This was the most wonderful experience of my life. Milo and his family are amazing people who truly deserve the whole world - their warmth, presence and energy is contagious and Milo is so passionate about his work. The work here is very minimal, with lots of free time to go to the nearest town or swim in the beach. Advice for future travellers - don't bring anything more than bathing suits and shorts and maybe one nice outfit: you don't need anything else :) Bring lots of mosquito repellent and come in with an open mind and positive attitude. Milo will change your life.

This was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. Milo and Sonia were so welcoming and very knowledgeable. It was great to practice my Spanish daily. The work was very light with lots of free time to explore the beautiful area and relax, read, eat coconuts right from the tree, and make friends with the other volunteers. Releasing the turtles into the ocean was a deeply moving and once in a lifetime experience.

This was a 10/10 experience! The work is very simple to do, the food provided was always great! The experience of handling the turtles was truly amazing. You have plenty of time to relax, swim in the ocean, and head into town. I recommend that you or someone you go with knows Spanish. They were also very timely in responding. I would definitely go back in the future!

I couldn't recommend this experience more!! ❤️ Milo and Sonia are both very kind people. I stayed for 2 weeks and learned SO much about sea turtles making me love them even more. We had plenty of time to explore Quepos and the surrounding areas as well! I miss my time in the shelter already :))

I had an amazing time the shelter! Milo and Sonia are both very welcoming and passionate about their work with the sea turtles. One of the highlights was seeing the baby turtles head to the sea, and we even got to watch adult turtles laying eggs, which was incredible. The work and relaxation balance was just right and Sonia's delicious meals were a big bonus. A tip for future volunteers: knowing some basic Spanish is helpful for communication. All in all I highly recommend this experience and would love to come back some day!

Volunteering at the shelter was the best decision ive ever made!! It was genuinely the best 2 weeks of my life. Milo is the most humble, caring and generous man ever. He is always sharing his knowledge about turtles and his life on the island. I have found a great friend in him and i cant wait to go back. We had a lot of free time during the day so its perfect if you want to live in the present moment and enjoy the beach and wildlife. It's the perfect place to meet travellers from all over the world and build deep connections. The house is cozy and has everything you need. It was truly amazing.

100/10 experience. I stayed for 12 days, and each of them was perfect. Milo is a wonderful host. He was so caring to all volunteers, connecting through conversation, sharing knowledge, helping with transportation at any time, etc. Milo's work is fully non-prophet - he is a lifelong local with a heartfelt desire to protect endangered sea turtles. I learned so much through the daily turtle releases as Milo would share information with us and tourists. His family was kind and prepared amazing meals which accommodated my vegan diet. There is TONS of free time to relax and enjoy. I loved everything

I had fun but many things you want to know before going that were not as advertised One dirty shared bathroom, very unsanitary No accommodations (hand towels, rags) No cooking class, you watch the owner silently make it then eat it together No functioning swimming pool We did nothing with turtles, the eggs don't hatch for 40 days so we didn't see them Walked for hours on night patrol and did not see a turtle or nest Mostly free time, you have to pay to go anywhere, you can't walk Meals are small buy snacks You sleep with bugs Overall it's not as advertised Decent experience

Hi Stephanie, we are sorry this experience was not what you expected. In July we mostly patrol by night to find turtles laying eggs. It's nature so we never know when we find one. You where able to locate eggs in the hatchery. We wish you the best and thanks again for visiting us.

I stayed for one week at the project. I was able to see the baby turtles hatch which was so cute! During the day, we as volunteers planned many different activities because the work is almost always in the evening or at night going on patrol, or the morning, when tourists come to see the baby turtles. I was also able to talk in spanish because Milo and his family do not talk that much english. The food was also great:)
