The experience

We’re looking for cheerful and friendly volunteers to support us at our cozy hostel in Yuzawa, Japan.

Your main help will be with housekeeping and keeping the place tidy, and in your free time you’ll have plenty of opportunities to go skiing, snowboarding, or just enjoy the winter scenery.

What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Intermediate English or Beginner Japanese

Between 20 and 40 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

As a volunteer, your main support will be in housekeeping and maintaining a welcoming environment for our guests. We are looking for someone who is flexible, positive, and willing to lend a hand with daily tasks. In return, you’ll enjoy a local experience in Yuzawa, surrounded by mountains and winter sports⛷️

Activities & Shift

About 4 hours per day, 5 days per week (usually 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, but flexible between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm).

2 days off per week to rest, ski, snowboard, or explore the area🍃⛰️☁️

Rules

You’ll stay in a private room on the 3rd floor. Rooms are simple (attic-style, without windows), so most of your time will likely be spent in the shared common space.

The hostel is non-smoking, and quiet hours are from 10:00 pm onwards due to the building’s structure.

This inn does not provide meals to staff.
Also, my accommodation does not provide winter sports gear such as clothing or lift tickets, so please rent these yourself locally.

As we are newly opened, we don’t yet have a full cleaning manual, so your ideas and input will be very welcome.

The owner speaks limited English. Please use a translation app for communication, as phone calls won’t be possible. Messaging apps are preferred.
