The experience

We require volunteers interested in organic farming and traditional food practices to commit to a two-week immersive experience from November 4th to 25th, 2025. Participants will help with the olive harvest, which requires 13-15 days of labour. Program Details

This is a three-week immersive experience for travellers wanting to help to sustain a centenarian food culture practice, learn about how to distinguish a good quality olive oil and gain knowledge and awareness of the general food industry and market, and learn about the wealth of art and the history of the region.

We need a two-week availability/commitment - from November 4th to November 25th, 2025 (dates include arrival and departure days).

We need help with the daily procedures of picking the olives: setting the nets under the trees, shaking the branches by hand rakes and electric rakes, filling the crates and transporting them to the local mill in town at the end of the day.

We are looking to set up a team of 6 volunteers - three women and three guys - to balance the group's work and dynamic.

Activities & Shift

Due to logistics and the nature of the harvest, we cannot accommodate shorter or longer stays. During the two weeks, there might be some rainy days when we can't work so we'll go for an excursion instead. Or, if the weather is good, we tend to work every day until the harvest is accomplished and then enjoy the remaining days for visits and relaxing. So, we want all the members of the teams to have the same opportunities in terms of work and cultural experiences.

Volunteers stay in shared bedrooms (separate for men and women) in our family building in Altamura.
My mom, my dad, and my sister-in-law provide three meals per day based on regional dishes with our farm's products.
