The experience

Our farm is dedicated to preserving and sharing the art of fermentation, especially traditional rice yeast and fermented teas. Participants become part of our daily rhythm—helping with general maintenance, assisting in fermentation processes, and supporting the upkeep of our communal spaces. But this is also a place of cultural exchange. Volunteers are encouraged to help our team and local children improve their practical English.


What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 120 Per week

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

In return, you’ll learn about Vietnamese customs, food, and farming practices passed down through generations.

Life here is simple, communal, and deeply connected to the land. You’ll share meals, stories, and laughter with our team. Ba Vì offers stunning nature trails, hot springs, and local markets—perfect for weekend exploration.

Activities & Shift

• Assist with minor repairs around the farm (fences, tools, structures)
• Participate in seasonal tasks like planting, harvesting,
• Learn and help prepare traditional rice yeast
• Assist in cleaning and sterilizing fermentation vessels
• Support the fermentation process for tea and other farm products
• Help document recipes and techniques for cultural preservation
• Maintain walking paths, gardens, and green spaces
• Clean and tidy communal areas (kitchen, dining, restrooms)
• Help with building upkeep: painting, patching, and basic carpentry
• Practice conversational English with local children and staff
• Lead simple English-based games or storytelling sessions
• Assist with cultural exchange workshops or creative activities
• Help prepare shared meals or assist in the kitchen,
• Welcome new volunteers and help them settle in
• Document farm life through photography or video
• Share your own cultural traditions through food, music, or art
• Help with social media or blog posts to promote the farm’s mission

Welcome to our farm community! We’re excited to share our space, culture, and daily life with you. To ensure a respectful and enriching experience for everyone, we ask all volunteers to follow these guidelines:

🕒 Work Expectations
Volunteers contribute 4–6 hours per day, 5 days a week.

Tasks vary by season and may include maintenance, fermentation, gardening, cleaning, and language exchange.

Please be punctual and communicate if you’re feeling unwell or need time off.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Community Conduct
Treat all team members, locals, and fellow volunteers with respect and kindness.

No discrimination, harassment, or aggressive behavior will be tolerated.

We encourage open-mindedness and cultural sensitivity—this is a space for learning and sharing.

🏡 Living Arrangements
Keep communal areas clean and tidy: kitchen, bathrooms, sleeping quarters.

Respect quiet hours: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM.

No smoking indoors. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but disruptive behavior is not.

🛠️ Safety & Responsibility
Use tools and equipment only after receiving instructions.

Report any damage, injury, or safety concerns immediately.

Volunteers are responsible for their own belongings. Lock up valuables if needed.

📱 Communication & Boundaries
Ask before taking photos of people or private areas.

Use phones respectfully during work hours—no loud music or distractions.

If you feel uncomfortable or unsure about a task, speak to the coordinator.

🚪 Departure & Feedback
Let us know at least 2 days in advance if you plan to leave early.

We welcome feedback to improve the experience for future volunteers.

Volunteers who violate these rules may be asked to leave the program.
