Im happy this was my first working holiday experience as I had an amazing time in Takayama! I stayed here for about a month and there's enough to do in Takayama and around. The team is really nice (both Japanese and foreign) and I was there during the holidays so they introduced us to the local culture! The work is straightforward. Since I was there while it was busy there was a lot to do. Sometimes communication wasn't always clear so could lead to some frustration. But overall would really recommend it! Oh yeah and the food is really good🤗

It was a great experience! Everyone on the staff was so nice. I made great friends and had an amazing time. I'm so glad they welcomed me to help. I definitely recommend this volunteer opportunity and would love to come back again. The food they offer is soooo good! 👌🏻 As for the job, it mostly involves doing rooms and cleaning, but it's easy, and you have plenty of time to hang out or visit different places.

I had incredible 10 days in Takayama. The entire team is super kind and helpful. The work itself is easy and takes no more than four hours a day to complete. The food, prepared fresh every day, is absolutely amazing—even for vegetarians like me! Aside from work, there's plenty of time to explore Takayama and its surroundings. The team is always happy to offer recommendations on what to see and do. A big thank you to everyone for these experience!

I would definitely recommend this experience - Takayama and surrounding areas are a lovely place if you're willing to get amongst it, the work is reasonable, and you definitely have enough free time. The included meals were absolutely delicious, and the team and hostel guests are warm and friendly. As one of the first volunteers here, I think it will be easy to refine the experience for future travellers!

So far we have arranged to have a monthly event in the irori to try cover all the volunteers at once.
The staff room has been made permanent and we apologize for how that went down in the end.

Overall I am very happy with my time volunteering at the guest house. The work was very easy and straight forward. It was right in the heart of takayama, best location to be able to explore around. I was able to walk to everything in town and had lots of time after work and days off to take the bus to day trips around the area. The food included was also excellent, I am pescatarian and they went out of their way everyday to make sure I had food to eat even if that meant making something extra for me which I greatly appreciated! I would recommend volunteering here :)

It is still early days in our addition of volunteers to our daily routines but we will be working toward a more interractive experience for the volunteers in future.

El lugar es increible, nunca habia estado antes en Takayama y me encanto, desde el comienzo uno se siente muy acogido, el manager y los trabajadores son muy atento con la gente que llega y siempre puedes hablar con ellos sobre los horarios y dias libres. Se respetan las horas de voluntariado y las comidas son muy ricas ya que hay una cocinera que se encarga de eso, son dos comidas principales al dia (almuerzo y cena) ademas que entregan cosas para preparar tu propio desayuno en la casa compartida, en general fue una muy buena experiencia poder vivir en este lugar.

Mi estadía en el hostel fue increíble! takayama es un pueblo que vale la pena visitar. el alojamiento es muy conveniente, las comidas fueron muy buenas y abundantes. creo que por ser temporada baja no había tanto trabajo así que usualmente terminábamos antes de horario por lo que podíamos relajarnos antes de almorzar. el staff es muy amigable y siempre dispuesto a ayudar, definitivamente volvería al hostel🙂‍↕️

Fui con mi pareja y cumplimos un nuevo role que era socializar con los huespedes, darles recomendaciones de qué hacer en la zona y asegurarnos que esté todo bien. Fue super fácil y mejoré mis habilidades sociales, así que muy contenta. Además no habia muchos huespedes las semanas que fuimos así que aprovechamos los momentos sin nadie para nuestro trabajo online, y hasta tuvimos días off extra. Fue perfecto. Ademas tuvimos una habitación privada para nosotros en la casa de voluntarios, no nos lo esperábamos así que fue una grata sorpresa :) La comida siempre abundante y muy rica!

Mi experiencia en the hostel fue maravillosa. Aunque soy una persona sorda, me sentí muy bienvenida desde el primer día. El equipo fue abierto, amable y con ganas de aprender sobre lengua de signos. Creamos un nuevo proyecto para hacer el check-in en lengua de signos internacional. Gracias a esta inclusión, me sentí como en casa. Me voy con el corazón lleno. Una experiencia que recordaré siempre. ¡Gracias por todo!🤗♥️
