This is a wonderful place with lovely people. I really felt the family-like atmosphere. During my stay, I helped in the kitchen, learned new recipes, and enjoyed being part of the daily operations. It is a rewarding experience, and I highly recommend the hotel and the hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming and hands-on volunteering opportunity.

I had an amazing month here! I worked first at the restaurant and later with Tony on gardening and housekeeping. Working with Tony was really fun and relaxed, while the restaurant could be a bit stressful at times. Everything else was perfect — great food, beautiful nature, and lots of fun activities like kayaking and hiking. I really appreciate Liz, Tony, and all the staff for making this an unforgettable experience!

One of my favorite volunteer experiences! I supposed to stay for 2 weeks but then I extended for one more week. I worked with Toney in the gardening, he was like a father and a friend as well, we enjoyed working with him and he taught us a lot about Scottish culture . Although it was a remote place and it was hard to get to the city, however, the area couldn't be better, the nature is fascinating especially in fall and also we could use the kayak in the lake and it was really chilling time. Also, the food was good as well! I would recommend this experience especially for people want to relax.

I had a unique experience here, everyone was nice and welcoming, and Judith tried to make our experience as easy as she could, my manager was Tony and that was the best thing that happened to me in this experience, he treated us with great kindness and taught us things with patience and love, and he taught us a lot about Scottish culture, The place is beautiful but the only negative is that you need a car to go anywhere.

The location is stunning (tho far from everything) perfect if you love nature. We had access to kayaks and the boat, which was an incredible. Rooms are private, meals are decent, and I really appreciated Liz's help with help I needed. On the downside, communication with the owners is quite limited, so most of the “training” comes from other staff. Unfortunately, some of them took advantage of our presence, asking us to do extra tasks, like dishwashing, that weren't part of the agreement. Kitchen staff (and lack there of) were not easy to work with making it a stressful experience.

I expected to come out of this experience with a sense of empowerment and community. However, I don't think this host has the Worldpackers values at heart. They are in desperate need of any staff they can get, as their regular staff are continually leaving them. They need to work on communication, as I had absolutely no orientation of any kind, and relied on asking other volunteers/staff for advice, or just finding random tasks to do. The view is beautiful, but there's lots lacking. The room I was in was missing basic amenities even after someone fixed it. The guests' experience takes priority

Hello Kim, I gave you a good score, as you completed every task with politeness's and competence. I do think that you need a more open attitude with work colleagues, and if you are disappointed or disgruntled please mention before you leave. Once you have left nothing can be fixed or altered. Happy Travels

The place is charming, next to the loch, the hotel is beautiful, reminding me of a house I once lived in. I was moved to different rooms twice, which I saw as positive since I could enjoy new views, one of them with a spectacular loch view. The food is fine, not great. Shifts are calm, sometimes a bit disorganized, but manageable. I recommend the experience, though without expecting friendship with the bosses, as they just do their job. Ive Worked in gardening, housekeeping and hours are respected, which I value a lot. Thanks to Lizz and David, I wish you succes!

The hotel offered a great view with not much else. I would return back to the states before going back here. I felt exploited and underappreciated the entire stay which resulted in me leaving with no notice. Trust the Google reviews folks....

Hello Kyle,
I am sorry you felt underappreciated - you had use of a car, free lifts to Oban, Inveraray, Bust stop and train station. You used the water sports and all guests facilities free of charge. You were never asked to do any unpaid extra hours. Not only did you leave with no notice - you pre planed your departure during a working day to cause the most embarrassment to your colleagues. The day before your departure, you were discussing sponsorship, to stay at Portsonachan.

GRACIAS EQUIPO the hotel💚
