If you love dogs and want to contribute to a greater good, this program is for you! the shelter is committed to improving the lives of all dogs that walk through their doors, and being a small part of this goal is an experience I will never forget. Each of the dogs and staff members alike brings a wonderful energy and warm welcome to us volunteers. The work itself is very organized and equally gratifying, as we help maintain a safe/clean space for the furry inhabitants and shower them with love in the process. I recommend a basic level of Spanish to best understand and communicate with everyone.

Such a great volunteer opportunity! the shelter is an amazing the the shelter, with staff and volunteers who really care about the dogs. The work isn't super easy, you are expected to work hard and get dirty for 4 hours a day, but it's so worth it to help the the shelter and spend time with the dogs! The dogs are all so sweet and loving too, and it's really rewarding to spend time with them and go on walks! The house is a short walk from the the shelter and a 20 minute electric bike ride from town (or a €20 Uber)! There are three bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room, and outdoor spaces! With a washer!

The tasks in the the shelter are from 9 to 13:30/14 hs. There is almost always a volunteer or worker who takes you and drops you off in their vehicle, the job consists of cleaning the dogs' poop, then cleaning and scrubbing with water and detergent, we have a mini recess for breakfast (you have to take it), then dry. Sometimes we feed and close windows and doors, and take them for a walk. I have a house, super comfortable and cozy, I had a big room for me and my friend, the dogs that live there are the most, Betty I will miss you a lot! In the garden you can take the fruits and vegetables

It was my first Worldpackers and it was amazing. You feel you're doing something that really matters, which it is. Michael and the team at the shelter welcome you from the beginning and I had the luck to met great people. I would definitely love to come back one day.

Michael provided a great setting for me to have my first Worldpackers experience, being able to help a great the shelter. It was an awesome lifestyle, eating food grown by Michael, riding into town on the ebikes, and just being surrounded by dogs most of the time. the the shelter was tiring work at times, especially when walking the dogs up and down the mountain in the sun, however, it being so rewarding heavily outweighed this, particularly when working with good people. Would highly recommend this experience, in such a beautiful part of the world.

I absolutely loved volunteering here. My friend and I stayed for about four weeks at the farm near the shelter. We worked 5 days a week from 9 am to around 1 pm. The days off can vary because you have to ask the president Susi. The work consists of picking up the poo of the dogs, cleaning the floors with water and then drying them. While doing this I often cuddled or played with the dogs. All of them are really lovely. After finishing we walked dogs, mostly to river where they can lay or play in the water. At the house we have two electric bikes to drive down to estepona in our freetime.

A very positive experience. The job consists of cleaning the premises and walking a the shelter once a day. Mickael's place is a very nice and cosy flat. The house has Irish plugs with adapters. Mickael is a very good host, he is very helpful. He pays close attention. He offers food from his harvest. The house is far from the centre of Estepona and a taxi costs €22. Mickael provides his car and three electric bikes, a washing machine and a very cosy flat. I would definitely return if I were offered the opportunity again. Many thanks to Mickael.

My friend and I volunteered for 11 incredible days! this is a great place for people who care about dogs and want to explore southern spain. the work can be hard but it becomes easy when you get used to the routine and more comfortable around the dogs. the shift ends around 1:30 and you have access to electric bikes that can take you to the beach, market, and town of estepona. the shelter is an inspiring the shelter full of dedicated people 🐶

My day-to-day mainly consisted of cleaning up after the dogs, washing and drying the pens, and walking them from around 9am to 1–1:30pm. The work is simple but rewarding, with plenty of free time in the afternoons. The setting is beautiful, though the space is small and can feel crowded with many volunteers, and transportation can be tricky since the two electric bikes may feel intimidating for beginners. At times, things can feel a little chaotic, but caring for the dogs and the joy they bring makes it completely worthwhile. I'd definitely love to do it again!

Absolutely amazing experience that I recommend to anyone that loves dogs, beautiful scenery, and wishes for a social experience. Superb team up at the shelter, where you work from about 9am to 1pm, cleaning and then walking the dogs (generally, you can choose which!). You then have the rest of the day to relax, hike, or visit the city. Michael is a fabulous host, extremely kind and helpful; if you need anything or even want to chat, don't hesitate at all ! Will without a doubt stay again on my next trip to Spain - Thank you, Michael !
