I loved my time at the host! I made great friendships and had a blast working with Pam, Bea, and Cindy. On the downside, the accommodation is quite poor — not as advertised in the pictures. You share a room with hostel staff and random guests, and as a solo female traveler, I didn't feel completely safe, so I moved out. The food is repetitive (pepian almost every day, though it's tasty). Overall, the experience is worth it for the people and location, but the “benefits” aren't great

The host was great! Pam, Beatrice and Cindy are all amazing to work with and I had a great time getting to know them. They all made the work environment enjoyable and welcoming. The main issues with this gig is the accommodation at the hostel. From mosquito infested rooms, to the owner attempting to scam me into buying a whole new washing machine after theirs broke and disruptive roommates who come in and out at all hours making a lot of noise. I met other volunteers for the host and all eventually moved out of the hostel to pay for their own accommodation. Quite disappointing.

PRO: Staff are kind, patient, and professional—Cindy was wonderful, I was with her in the afternoon shifts, and Betty is charming and fun. CONS: The volunteer experience has serious flaws. Dorm living conditions are unacceptable: black mold, damp mattresses, spare mattresses above showers/toilet area, holes in walls, no separation from hostel staff. Lack of sensitivity from hostel staff in terms of sleeping schedule. No onboarding, poor communication, repetitive meals, zero compensation when moving out. Inclusiveness and use of volunteer time needs improvement from Pame as she leads this team

I had a lot of fun with the volunteers and staff here! You can learn a lot about the host, the work is reasonable, and you can practice your Spanish. Antigua is a very beautiful place, and I think you'll find a lot to do. Unfortunately, me and the other volunteers had to leave early as there was poor communication with the host and our schedules. Our accommodation and meals were also not as advertised here on World packers. But I wish the best to all the kind and hardworking staff here :)

I enjoyed working with the local Chefs & learning more about Guatemalan the host & culture. I worked with Sindy most of my shifts & she is an absolute gem. She's not only a great Chef, she's also kind, caring, patient, friendly and funny so I thoroughly enjoyed working with her. There is a definite need to improve communication between the organisation & volunteers. Receiving a message late at night to change shifts from 6pm to 10am shows a lack of respect for volunteers time & effort. The accommodation is also unacceptable. The room is appalling to the point of being unhealthy, not recommended

The volunteering was a nice experience! Beatriz, Pamela and Cindy are amazing. The work is nice and the food is really good! However, you have to work 5hours a day, not 4 as it is supposed to be. The room is also pretty bad. the host is such a nice place, but the hostel is pretty different. I recommand it if you are chill about confort.

The staff at the host (Sindy, Beatrice, Pamela) are what makes the experience a great time! The accommodation wasn't the most comfortable but it worked for my short duration. (The dorm pictured on the application isn't the volunteers dorm) A free meal is only guaranteed if there was a the host class during your shift and if there were leftovers.
