My time at the host was amazing! I loved working with Sindy, Beatriz, and Pamela, and they were always kind, warm, and welcoming. Although the work description isn't super clear on their profile - you have to click LEARN MORE for the complete information - I was confident that whatever they needed I could provide. It is translation work from Spanish to English and vice versa, primarily, with a bit of cleaning and other assistance thrown in. For me, this was a great exchange, and probably my favorite one I've ever done because languages are my field of choice. I left with the best memories.

The experience was great, my partner and I had lots of fun translating, helping in the kitchen and interacting with the guests. The chefs are amazing in their job and treated us like family. The managers Eric and Pamela were also lovely people, always accommodating when we wished to have free time. The only issue was the room we slept in, but I was told also that now it's another room so it should be all good. In short we do recommend the volunteering here for many reasons, but specially the people, we miss them a lot!

I had a great time getting to know Beatrice and pamela. They were always positive and happy and created such a welcoming environment. They even gave me and another volunteer a going away lunch!

This volunteer experience was great. The work was easy and fun and left a lot of free time for other activities. The food you make is great but gets repetitive eating the same meal every day. Also we are supposed to receive free dinner every night but if it's your day off or there's no classes that day you won't receive a meal. We were told we were welcome to use the ingredients in the kitchen but only were told that in the last couple days. Other than that it's a worth while experience. The chefs are great and you get to work with so many interesting people. Would recommend

I enjoyed working with the local Chefs & learning more about Guatemalan the host & culture. I worked with Sindy most of my shifts & she is an absolute gem. She's not only a great Chef, she's also kind, caring, patient, friendly and funny so I thoroughly enjoyed working with her. There is a definite need to improve communication between the organisation & volunteers. Receiving a message late at night to change shifts from 6pm to 10am shows a lack of respect for volunteers time & effort. The accommodation is also unacceptable. The room is appalling to the point of being unhealthy, not recommended

The volunteering was a nice experience! Beatriz, Pamela and Cindy are amazing. The work is nice and the food is really good! However, you have to work 5hours a day, not 4 as it is supposed to be. The room is also pretty bad. the host is such a nice place, but the hostel is pretty different. I recommand it if you are chill about confort.

The staff at the host (Sindy, Beatrice, Pamela) are what makes the experience a great time! The accommodation wasn't the most comfortable but it worked for my short duration. (The dorm pictured on the application isn't the volunteers dorm) A free meal is only guaranteed if there was a the host class during your shift and if there were leftovers.
