Herbs, fruits, furs and feathers at the herbalist, Germany
The experience
Our natural garden is a refuge for various plants and animals. Your task would be to help maintain this garden and create additional habitats. Fruits and plants from the garden will be harvested and processed, and I need your help with this. The animals residing here value your care, gentle strokes, and also appreciate cleanliness. Would you like to be able to create your own medicine cabinet from nature? I'd be happy to show you how!

Program Details
We are not a traditional farm; here, animals are granted a peaceful retirement, and at the same time, aid is provided to those in need. Consequently, the number of animals varies throughout the year. Harvesting times naturally vary according to the type of fruit and the changing seasons. During dry days, we focus on essential gardening tasks such as weeding, hedge trimming, and compost management, which help maintain the health and beauty of our garden. When it rains, we often shift our attention indoors to sorting and organizing, making good use of the time regardless of the weather. Throughout the year, we also dedicate efforts to creating safe refuges for wild animals; however, these projects are influenced by weather conditions and the specific needs of the animals in our care. Because of this dynamic environment, a certain degree of spontaneity and flexibility is highly beneficial. Embracing these variations allows us to work harmoniously with nature’s rhythms and ensures that every activity contributes meaningfully to our shared sanctuary.
Activities & Shift
We usually coordinate our work and working hours after you have familiarized yourself with the accommodation upon arrival. I am very flexible regarding your working hours. If you would like to travel an additional day within Germany, you are welcome to adjust your working hours accordingly and work longer on other days beforehand. Your start time can also be discussed and adjusted to your needs.
Upon arrival, we will also discuss whether you are comfortable with fixed working hours on certain days if an animal care emergency requires assistance that deviates from my own working hours.
Rules
Please do not smoke in the house. Please keep your private spaces tidy, and approach your surroundings with care and consideration. We are committed to protecting natural resources by conserving water and electricity, and your mindfulness in these matters is greatly appreciated.
