In the heart of the Amazon rainforest, you'll share daily life with the Huni Kuin people, an Indigenous community living in the state of Acre, Brazil. This volunteer experience gives you the unique opportunity to learn about an ancient culture deeply connected to nature, actively participating in their customs, rituals, and ways of life.

Volunteer with the Huni Kuin People in the Amazon Rainforest
Live a transformative experience in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, sharing daily life with the Huni Kuin people, an indigenous community living in the state of Acre, Brazil. This volunteer experience gives you the unique opportunity to learn about an ancestral culture deeply connected to nature, actively participating in their customs, rituals, and ways of life.
Volunteer Activities:
Support for community projects: sustainable agriculture, construction using traditional techniques, maintenance of community spaces.
Cultural exchange: Huni Kuin language classes (Hatxa Kuin), learning traditional songs, dances, and crafts.
Environmental education: collaboration in conservation and reforestation programs.
Guidance in sacred rituals (optional and respectful), such as the nixi pae (ayahuasca) ceremony, always with a spiritual focus and guided by the community's wise men.
What you will receive:
Accommodation in traditional homes within the village.
Food based on local products.
In-depth teachings about the Huni Kuin worldview, its ancestral medicine, and its connection to the jungle.
Requirements:
Open-mindedness, respect for other cultures, and a willingness to adapt to a simple lifestyle.
Basic level of Portuguese or Spanish (although nonverbal communication and constant learning are part of the process).
Good physical and mental health to navigate a jungle environment.
This volunteer program is not tourism: it is a call to live with ancestral wisdom, to listen to the jungle, and to return transformed.

Rules
Rules of the Huni Kuin Volunteer Program
1. Absolute Respect for Huni Kuin Culture
Each volunteer is expected to deeply respect the community's customs, beliefs, rituals, and social norms. No photos or recordings of rituals should be taken without explicit permission.
2. Active and Responsible Participation
The volunteer must collaborate willingly and committedly in the daily activities assigned by community leaders or program coordinators.
3. Use of External Substances Prohibited
The consumption of alcohol, drugs, or non-prescription medications is not permitted within the village. Traditional medicines will be offered only by pajés (shamans), within the appropriate context.
4. Care for the Natural Environment
The forest is sacred to the Huni Kuin people. Leaving trash, harming plants or animals, or altering the ecosystem in any way is prohibited.
5. Appropriate and Respectful Dress
Modest and functional clothing should be worn for the jungle environment, avoiding flashy or inappropriate attire according to local standards.
6. Consent and Privacy
Interpersonal relationships must be respectful. Community members' personal space should not be invaded. Any intimate contact must be based on mutual respect and clear consent.
7. Silence and Attention in Rituals
During spiritual ceremonies or community meetings, please maintain silence, mindfulness, and follow the instructions of local guides.
