The experience

Are you looking to travel the world and support a meaningful mission, even if you're on a budget and don't have a lot of skills? Join our volunteering programme at El Terreno, a great opportunity to join our community and be an essential part of the daily running of our cultural exchange centre.

What you offer

5 hours of help per day

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 25 Per day

Fee pays for: Materials for volunteer activities

Description: We offer two flexible options to suit your availability: Option 1: Work 5 hours per day (25 hours per week) with a $25 weekly contribution to help cover accommodation and utilities. Option 2: Work 7 hours per day (35 hours per week) with no financial contribution required.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Intermediate English or Beginner Spanish

Over 18 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

Volunteers are an essential part of our daily activities. Join us and become part of our community, develop your Spanish and experience the wonders of Ecuador without breaking the bank!

Activities & Shift

Our Volunteer program is designed for individuals eager to contribute to the daily operations of our cultural exchange centre. Volunteers take on hands-on tasks such as:
Cooking – Assisting with meal preparation
Cleaning – Helping maintain a clean and organised space
Manual Work & Gardening – Supporting infrastructure, gardening, and general maintenance
Skill-level is less important than a great attitude and strong work-ethic in support of El Terreno’s internal operations, in exchange for accommodation, meals and an authentic experience in the Ecuadorian Andes. This program does not involve direct engagement with the local community.

Rules


Minimum stay: 2 weeks
Maximum stay: None, but dependent on performance reviews and visa status

Week Work-Hour Options:

Part Time: 25 hours for $25 per week (8am-lunch + washing up + deep clean)
Full Time: 35 hours without cost (as above + 2 hours each afternoon)

Additional information:

- Volunteer work focuses on the immediate needs of the organisation, we cannot say in advance what tasks you will be doing.
- Where possible, we try to match skills/interests to tasks, however, organisational needs take priority.
