I stayed for a month. The staff were friendly & welcoming. 3 meals a day were provided, which was helpful. There's a 10pm curfew when the gate locks, so plan accordingly. Worked as a kitchen hand/bartender, which was tougher than expected: dishwashing, food prep, bartending, sweeping, & waitressing, standing for 6 hours straight. It gave me new respect for hospitality workers. Durban is huge, & a month felt short. I saw some key spots but barely scratched the surface. Overall, a solid experience with good people, just be ready for hard work if you're helping out.

Highly recommend volunteering in the guest house, the place offers everything for you to be comfortable, food is excellent, Internet is also very nice if you're working online, many shops around the area. Barrett, Kaden, Zandile, Nomusa, Charlie and all the staff are very welcoming and helpful, communication with host is good and the tasks you have you do are always well explained

My stay at the guest house was good overall. The lodge is beautiful and right in front of the beach. The volunteer tent is comfy and private, set on the lodge patio. I worked from 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., five days a week (sometimes longer), and got three good meals daily. The area's great for surfing or diving, though not much else to do. Tasks could've been better organized and explained. Thanks to Zandile for being so kind during my stay!
