A great hostel in the hostel! The rooming is clean and comfortable, restaurant/bar are great, and the location was amazing. Was able to meet a lot of international travelers, and become friends with the local staff. The communication is a work in progress with the managers, so when you arrive try to set clear responsibilities or ways to check in with them throughout your experience! Lots of room to try a lot of different roles in helping a hostel.

My time at the hostel was not what I was expecting. The experience provided a chance to take some time to chill in my travels. However, volunteering was not a rewarding experience for me. The job description invited me to “craft coffee” as a volunteer barista, as well as bartending and leading activities for guests. I realised a volunteer's role was to curate a vibe in the lobby of the hostel. Our days were spent hanging out in a hostel, not contributing our time to an appreciative community. The role would suit some travellers needs, but my partner and I called our visit short.

I had a good experience volunteering at the hostel in the hostel Bay, despite it not being what I expected. I applied for a Barista role, but quickly upon my arrival realised that wasn't the volunteers role at all. Our tasks included creating an upbeat vibe in common areas, communicating with guests and running food. It was a good time to reset, plan future travels and socialise, however I wouldn't say it was a rewarding volunteering experience. the hostel itself was a great place to stay, lots of new traveler's, clean rooms and comfy beds. It just depends what type of volunteering you want.

I was led to believe I'd be working on social media. However, I wasn't provided with the passwords etc until 6 days after I arrived. And then they changed my task. The hours they wanted me to work were all night hours 6-11pm which didn't really suit me. I think the hostel management need to work on their communication with volunteers to show they're committed to a position relationship with their volunteers.
