Create a peaceful + therapeutic space for international veterans
The experience
In order to collaborate toward further-curating a peaceful space of wilderness fit for the strived-for comfort and outdoor exploration for international veterans, lots of help is needed preparing the land of the property itself (such as cutting trees, hauling wood from trees, leveling ground, building), as well as with research into veteran organizations and getting in contact with them for possible stays at Zomerrust, care of the home, and chick

Program Details
Volunteers are expected to help 5 hours per day starting around 9-9:30 AM, reporting downstairs in the dining room around 8 AM for coffee/breakfast. Volunteer housekeeping expectations include washing and putting away of the dishes, (both dishwasher and sink are accessible in the main living area downstairs) setting the table at mealtimes, occasional sweeping and overall upkeep in cleanliness of shared bathroom. Oversight by the host will be given during task instruction but besides half-day checkups during lunch, volunteers are expected to stay busy and diligent in their task to the best of their ability without distraction independently. Volunteers are encouraged to ask questions if any kinds of specifications on daily life at Zomerrust are needed, amenity clarification included. Negative attitudes toward work are not tolerated, yet switching to tasks that are less frustrating/demanding is encouraged throughout the weeks/days of your stay. Frequent trips to the store happen every week, so any personal wants from Bratunac are more than accessible when we go to town together to gather groceries, etc.
