My time at ACOTPRO was transformational. Not only did we get to see turtles, eggs and nests, but we also witnessed the first hatch of the season on our very last night! Releasing the baby turtles into the ocean was such an incredible experience. Being fully immersed in nature and the local culture also made this experience stand out. The food was always so fresh and delicious, myself and the other travellers felt like we were part of the community by the end of our stay. If you are considering supporting a turtle conservation project in Costa Rica this is the one! :)

I cannot recommend this experience ENOUGH! This was my first time volunteering with Worldpackers and it was fantastic! Acortpro is such a special place to volunteer. The people are some of the most welcoming people I've ever met and are so helpful. The accommodations are rustic and the lifestyle is truly simple! Be prepared to spend a lot of time relaxing. The work was always meaningful and clear directions were given. Some days of work were hard due to the heat but everyone is accommodating with breaks. The work was only a few hours in the morning . The meals were all delicious and filling.

My time at ACOTPRO was amazing. We had 3 meals a day that were always good and I never thought that I was not fed enough. The work was hard as we were digging sand in the sun, but only ended up working for 1 hour a day. Everyone was so nice. The people you meet there make the whole experience. Overall I had a wonderful time and would recommend this experience to anyone.

I loved my time at ACOTPRO! Everyone was so kind, welcoming and fun. It's obvious they all care about the work they do and I learned a lot about the life cycle of sea turtles and got to contribute to the conservation effort. I was also able to meet and make friends with many locals and attend local soccer games and parties since the hosts are very connected to the community. The location is beautiful and I'm definitely going to try to make it back to ACOTPRO!

Really good turtle conservation. Rob is so knowledgeable and excellent at making the project feel very professional. Lovely little town and everyone is so friendly. Short beach so night patrols are short and easy to see many turtles!

This volunteering experience is one I'll never forget! You make life long connections with people there and are completely immersed in nature. Being fed 3 times a day (even though it's usually a combination rice and beans) the meals are always delicious. We came at the end of January, so unfortunately just missed the turtle season but still had a great time chilling on the private beach.

We had an amazing time at ACOTPRO! All of the volunteers were really friendly and welcoming. The food was more on the basic side (rice and beans) but was flavoursome and a great example of Costa Rican cuisine. Unfortunately we missed the turtle season, so the work was a bit repetitive, but the local people helping were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, we had a great stay and the sunsets were amazing!

I enjoyed this experience a lot, the location is gorgeous and the work is not too difficult it is manual labor but not for long hours. Come prepared for rice and beans every day, very basic living conditions, and bug bites but in my opinion, it was worth it. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and connect with nature.

This experience was amazing. I had the best 4 weeks here in Costa Rica with the other volunteers. What I do have to say, is that the volunteers make the experience. The host didn't know our names and weren't very engaging. The first week of my stay was fun because the last nest hatched. It was very interesting to get to know everything about the turtles. After the first week we only worked for a short time in the day. It was mostly manual labor, like pulling weeds out of the ground and raking. If you are planning on staying here, be prepared to eat rice and beans everyday the whole day.

I really enjoyed my time at ACOTPRO! However, this was primarily due to the other wonderful volunteers that I met, as well as the access that we had to incredible nature and unique sea turtle experiences. When we first arrived, some of my fellow volunteers and I struggled with the lack of communication and instruction given to new volunteers by the program coordinators. However, we gave feedback to those in charge, and saw some improvement in the organization over time. We also had some uncomfortable encounters with male staff, but also saw some improvement when we brought the issue up.
