Planting trees in Sweden for a better eco balance

I spent 6 weeks at Skålsjögården - and so should you :) The family is very welcoming and I instantly felt like a part of the team. On our free days, we were able to experience everything the swedish winter has to offer and also explored nearby cities by car to go second hand shopping. Having a house and rooms of our own also made relaxing a lot easier. Usually, we worked 5 days a week (~ 3 - 5 hrs on weekdays, ~ 6 - 8 hrs on weekends). The tasks were versatile and I loved working in the kitchen with Libby and Sabrina, it sometimes didn't even feel like work because we had so much fun!

My experience at skålsjögården was truly amazing. As soon I arrived I felt welcomed by Sabrina, Jonas and the other volunteers. Not only do you have your own room but you live with the other volunteers in a private house with a small kitchen and it's super cozy😁work was easy and if we had to work longer on some days we got these hours free another time. It's the perfect place to enjoy nature. I had amazing talks with Jonas and Sabrina and it felt like a home away from home, also the kids are super fun to be around ( + Sam of course) I cannot recommend this experience enough😍

My time at the lodge was a memorable experience for me, I got to tick so many bucket list moments from northern lights, snowmobiling, dog sledding to trying new amazing foods in the restaurant. I was there for new year and the family made me feel so welcome straight away. The other volunteers Lilli, Geoff and Lea become close friends too. The work is more than fair and helping the lodge in anyway from catering, to cleaning, to childminding never felt like a chore. It's a special place and if you tune into the nature surrounding you and the people, you will find growth & healing. Tack!

My experience at the lodge was great! I made lifelong friends and ate amazing food!😋 Sabrina and Jonas were great hosts and made you feel a part of their family. The work was good with good instructions, although some days the shifts were a bit longer than expected (which were made up for with additional days off). Overall, i had a great time and would recommend to anyone wanting to apply😊 Hopefully you can drive a manual for the “staff” car!!

Hej Seigna, so happy you had a great time—friends, food, family vibes! 😊Longer days? Yep, sometimes. But also plenty of chill ones in return 😉The 4 stars surprised us a bit after our lovely goodbye—but hey, maybe we should’ve offered driving lessons too 😄Perks were plenty, expectations clear—as always.

I had a good time there, mainly thanks to the amazing volunteers and fun activities like a husky tour, snowshoe hiking, and relaxing in the hotpot and sauna. The volunteer house is cozy, and the team is generally friendly. Communication was sometimes a bit unclear, and work was spread out over a long day without a clear quitting time. The atmosphere depends a lot on the people there, but it was a special time with unique circumstances that may have influenced things. Overall, the experience was nice and got some amazing memories! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions :D

Dear Annika, We learned from your review that some aspects of your stay were not to your liking. We apologize, as the well-being of our volunteers is very important to us. Regarding communication, a well-meant piece of advice: It always takes place on two sides. Informing future hosts about discrepancies during your stay gives them the chance to make changes—ideally resolving the issue and preventing dissatisfaction.

This is a great place! The nature is very pretty and the tasks can be very versatile. Jonas and Sabrina were very welcoming and are great to work together with! The other volenteers were also very nice. I did end up working a lot more hours than mentioned but the work was fun so I did not mind. If this is an issue for you they are definately people with whom you can discusse this with. The place is quite remote so perfect if you want to get away from the busy city life and spend time in nature!
