We are seeking a creative and skilled Volunteer Web Designer to help us develop and maintain a professional website that showcases our mission, programs, and impact. This role is ideal for someone with web design experience who is passionate about using their talents to support meaningful community development work.

Soweto Youth Initiative is a nonprofit that relies on donations to sustain its programs. Your contribution helps cover essential costs like meals, accommodation, utilities, and resources for the children. This support ensures we can continue making a positive impact while providing you with a meaningful volunteer experience.

What you get

Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Beginner English or Beginner English
Between 18 and 60 years old
Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details
The Soweto Youth Initiative (SYI) is a community-based organization in Soweto, Nairobi, Kenya, committed to empowering children and youth through education, mentorship, and community development. Since its founding, SYI has been a pillar of hope, addressing critical challenges such as poverty, school dropouts, early pregnancies, and unemployment.
Despite making a significant impact in the community, SYI struggles to maintain a consistent digital presence. A well-designed website will serve as a powerful tool to share our mission, connect with donors and partners, and showcase the incredible work being done in Soweto.
Your role as a Volunteer Web Designer will be instrumental in helping us tell our story, attract supporters, and create sustainable growth for the community.
Activities & Shift
What You’ll Do
Design and develop a user-friendly website for SYI.
Collaborate with the team to create engaging content, including text, images, and videos.
Integrate donation portals and volunteer sign-up forms.
Ensure the website is mobile-friendly and optimized for SEO.
Train SYI staff on basic website updates and maintenance
