The experience

We are a Japanese-Indian couple living in the peaceful countryside of Nasu, just two hours north of Tokyo. Our home is nestled in a serene rice-farming village surrounded by lush fields and picturesque mountains. Program Details

We share our home with two wonderful dogs, Mili and Milo, who bring so much joy and energy to our lives. They are active, affectionate, and love their daily walks. Our primary need is for volunteers to care for them while we are away. If you have additional skills in farming or carpentry, that's a bonus, but the key responsibility is ensuring the well-being of our dogs.

While this role doesn’t allow for complete days off (since the dogs require care every day), there is plenty of flexibility—volunteers can explore the area between the morning and evening walks. We are located just a five-minute drive from the city center, with access to a car (for those with an international driver’s license) and bicycles for local exploration.

Volunteer Responsibilities
Taking care of Mili and Milo, including two daily walks (7-8 AM and 4-5 PM)
Feeding them after each walk and letting them out in the yard a couple of times during the day
Occasionally watering the farm (every 3-4 days, takes less than 30 minutes)

Rules

About Mili & Milo
Age: 6-7 years old
Friendly with people and kids (sometimes overly enthusiastic)
Generally quiet except for short barking when someone arrives at the door
Limited interaction with other dogs due to our rural location, and their excitement can sometimes come across as aggression
