From the very first moment I arrived at Shankari, I could feel the magic of this place. There is nothing else like it – it truly feels like a little piece of paradise. The hosts were so loving and welcoming, I felt at home straight away. The mosaic work was such a beautiful experience that allowed me to grow and express my creativity. I also enjoyed working in the garden, swimming in the river, and discovering the life of this sweet little village. But more than anything, I found a family here. Thank you, Shankari, for your kindness and for sharing so much with me. I hope to come back soon!

I volunteered at the project for two weeks. Tasks varied daily I did gardening, cleaning, and most memorably mosaic making with Shankari. Working with her was inspiring; her energy and story uplift everyone, and the mosaic-filled the project is beautiful. The 3h workday allowed to explore the nearby village, nature, and sea. A highlight was being invited to Shankari's birthday, which made me feel truly welcomed. The only downsides were cat pee odors in the rooms and one shared bathroom with no lock. The community atmosphere was very welcoming, and I felt comfortable and included there.

Staying at the project Artist Sanctiary was an experience I'll cherish for the rest of my life. I've never been to such an establishment filled with creativity, magic, and alchemy. Making beautiful art pieces and mosaics out of broken tiles, I really was able to apply these practices to my life. the project was an excellent role model, always sharing stories of her adventurous life and providing many lite lessons that made me think. I was able to create my own piece that I was able to take home and I am so happy with the outcome. A peaceful, minimalist, and slow life that l will never forget :)

My time at the project was great! Perfect for my first Worldpackers. I was there to take photographs of the jewellery and although that did not always work out I did not mind at all as doing the mosaic was creative and rewarding work. Shankai and her son (who helped manage the volunteers) were very interesting and welcoming people and the slow life in the village was beautiful.

My stay at Shankari's was absolutely amazing. The people at Shankari were very welcoming. Meeting people from all around the was definitely my favourite part. I made some really good friends and shared some amazing memories with them that will be cherished forever @thesecertgroup. I would 100% recommend volunteering here, you'll learn so many life lessons and skills from the people. Thank you so much Shankari for everything, I can't wait to come back sometime soon. Truly such an incredible experience. Shankari is an amazing inspirational woman. The spot is situated in such serene nature it's like a fairytale! Doing mosaic arts was so special and fun to get creative. The provided so much information for arrival it was very helpful. The only thing i would recommend to improve on was that the volunteer work itself was not what we agreed upon, we were confirmed to do content creation for the jewellery but when we got there we were told we weren't going to be doing that and had to fall in with other volunteer work. would love to return again, was amazing ✨

Volunteering at Shankari's Place was an unforgettable experience. The work, mainly creating mosaics, was unique and artistic, allowing me to learn new skills while expressing creativity. the project is an amazing person, full of wisdom and inspiration, there's so much to learn from her. The location is very local, offering an authentic insight into Indonesian culture and daily life. Connecting with locals made the experience even more enriching. If you're looking for a meaningful, artistic, and immersive opportunity, I highly recommend it.
