Emma and I unfortunately had to leave earlier because we didn't get along with Dawn very well. We tried to talk to her to tell her that we didn't feel welcomed. But she just said that we would overreact, that our behaviour is ridiculous and that there is no time to deal with two emotional little kids. Moreover we had to clean and handwash after every meal for all of us, but the actual deal was communicated differently. Friendly communication was a main problem, not the tasks! There are even more things to mention, just text us!! Steve however was very welcoming and friendly the whole time!

Maybe you need to look at why we didn’t get along. We are popular and experienced hosts who normally do not have a problem getting along with our volunteers.

On your first evening, we arrange a BBQ for us all to get to know each other and you didn’t even join in but sat away from us. No interest in collaboration.

I was not happy with you, as you had no idea how to behave in a guest house, and you would not listen. Shouting & screaming with laughter to each other when guests were resting nearby, as an example.

When it was necessary to mention these issues, you took absolutely no responsibility at all, only sulked. I was not gas lighting you; I was direct and honest. You also took zero responsibility to discuss these issues and to commit to your original agreements.

As for washing up, we have a dishwasher and volunteers are asked to clear up, when we cook for everyone. You had three days of lunch & dinner specially cooked for you (as vegetarians and we are not) but no offer of help and not one single thank you. Why on earth would you consider that a hardship and expect something different.

As for privacy, we would never just come into the room, always knock if we need to access the attic.

You mention about texting other volunteers & making accusations of gas lighting, which shows how immature you are.

I came there together with Sophia, we originally planned on staying for two weeks but left after only three days. Steve was very welcoming and nice, was always interested and cared about our well-being. However, we didn't get along well with Dawn, she wasn't very friendly, her way of communicating was very harsh/rude. When we tried to talk to her about it, she was gaslighting us and telling us we were too sensitive for being volunteers. Also we felt like our privacy wasn't respected since they sometimes just came into our room, even when we weren't there. Just text us for more information!

I had a great first experience volunteering at the guest house. Steve and Dawn were friendly and welcoming and took us on interesting day trips. The work is easy to pick up and involves walking the cute dogs around the beautiful village. The village is tiny and set in the middle of the mountains. If you want to get away from the city and enjoy walking and exploring nature this is definitely the place for you!

It was an amazing experience! Steve and Dawn were very friendly from the beginning. They cooked delicious meals and eating lunch/dinner together was always really nice. They made sure that I was comfortable in the guest house and the work was exactly like agreed in advance. I had a chance to improve my english and spanish, the nature there was breathtaking and the dogs - Zorro and Badger, are adorable! Very recommended! Big thanks to Steve and Dawn

I had a great stay with Steve and Dawn! I stayed for two weeks, helping to walk dogs, serve breakfast, and change rooms and clean, so the work was not difficult at all and mostly was relaxing. The house itself is beautiful and the town is the cutest little town ever and the locals are so nice and welcoming. Steve and Dawn were so nice from the beginning, they took me to both Cadiz and Malaga for day trips and I did a few other day trips on my own on days off. If you want to be in a relaxing, outdoorsy setting with walking and hiking paths all around, this is definitely for you!!

I had a very good time in la the guest house😊 the work and working hours are exactly like agreed in advance and Steve and Dawn were flexible regarding my days off. You have everything you need to feel at home and having lunch/dinner together was always nice. The town is very small but it's an interesting experience to stay there for a few days and Steve and Dawn can recommend beautiful spots nearby that are worth visiting!! Thanks again😊

Steve and Dawn were very welcoming and generous and they always had tasks for me to do to make me feel productive. The dogs, Zorro and Badger, are absolutely adorable, and walking them in the morning is a great way to start the day. They also found time to take me to other parts of Andalucía, which I really enjoyed, and gave me lots of free time to travel independently on my days off as well. Villalengua is a beautiful village with very warm and friendly locals who took the time to chat to me, and make me feel at home in the town. This is really not an opportunity you want to miss out on!

We went for a week and end up staying for almost 20 days, and when we left we felt like it was too soon. Dawn and Steve really know how to make you feel at home, they are thoughtful and always have a funny anecdote to share. The region is incredible, with wonderful landscapes. The house is stunning and has a beautiful garden. The tasks were simple, cleaning, painting, gardening and some translations. Not to forget walking the lovely dogs, Zorro and Badger. Everything was delicious, the food, the wine, the ice cream. Thank you so much for the amazing time! We will be back

I've learned a lot with Steve and Dawn, from marketing to cleaning walls. They're very friendly and respectful. The village is super super quiet perfect to rest, get into the culture and connect with nature. They were very attentive and took me to meet some places around. Wonderful experience. I fall in love with the Village
