The experience
Join us in Kakuma, Kenya, and help empower women in a refugee camp! As a volunteer, you’ll support local women’s groups, teach basic English, and engage in meaningful conversations that uplift their spirits. No special skills are required—just an open heart and a desire to make a difference. In your free time, immerse yourself in the local culture, explore the area, and connect with people from all over the world. Come be part of this!
What you offer
18 hours of help per week
Building & Repairing:
Help with a wide range of repairs or building.
Teaching Languages:
Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.
Social Work:
Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.
What you get
2 days off per week
Tent:
You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Bikes at your disposal:
You can use our bikes any time you want.
Pick Up:
We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.
Permaculture Course:
Take part in our Permaculture course for free.
Certificate:
Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.
Fast Internet Access:
High-speed internet for you to work remotely
Dedicated Workspace:
Specific space for you to work remotely
Requirements
Beginner English
Between 18 and 80 years old
Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers
What's not included
Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa
Program Details
No qualifications are necessary, other than the ability to speak English. The minimum age to participate in our volunteer work in Kakuma independently is 18 years old. We also encourage families to volunteer in Kakuma refugee camp.
You will promote women’s empowerment. Gain experience teaching English to adults, and support local women’s groups.
Activities & Shift
Engaging with women daily.
Having normal chats and listening to women stories in the afternoon.
Rules
No drinking or smoking while at the project.
