The hostel is very good located, close to the central station and the centre, the staff is very welcoming from the beginning and the shifts are very manageable and flexible. It is very easy to meet new people and make friends from a lot of different places. It was my first worldpackers experience and for me time went by very fast so it couldn't have been better :)

It was definitely a good choice. The hostel has a great location (close to the central station, night life and public transport) and shifts are always respected (either housekeeping, reception, bar or kitchen closure). It was an enriching experience, both culturally and personally. Thank you to all of the staff for their warmth and friendliness :)

This was my first Worldpackers experience and I really had a great time! The staff is very welcoming and flexible, the tasks are easy and as described and the location is excellent, close to the centre and nightlife in Palermo. We had a common kitchen with statement ingredients to cook and you are provided with 20€ per week for the meals. The volunteers share a room and it was easy to make friends with the other volunteers and guests,you will quickly feel at home in the hostel. I would recommend this experience if you like big cities, want to practice languages and meet different people :)

Absolutely loved my time in Palermo, it's a beautiful city to explore. The work is straightforward and the hours of work are good. Thilanka, Hashan and Massimo are wonderful to work with. I would completely recommend this experience

If you are thinking about volunteering here i highly recommend it, i felt welcomed since the moment i arrived and felt very comfortable with the team and other volunteers, the shifts were easy and quick so i had plenty of time to explore palermo and other near cities, the location is great and a 5 minute walk to were all the bars are :)

I've had so much fun volunteering at the hostel! The staff are welcoming and friendly, the shifts were fun and simple and the hostel and facilities are great. The hostel is in a great location and there's so much to do in Palermo! I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to be here. Massimo is a great boss and has done a lot for me while I've been here! I definitely recommend this place 😊

The hostel is very nice and its location is good, and the cleaning tasks were simple. At reception it was very complicated at times and there was no one to help us solve any problems that might arise. I suggest someone help the volunteer team with the training. The hostel managers are amazing. Thilanka and Hassan are always ready to help you and listen to you if you need anything.

reception work is really easy and need only some attentions, for any help as you know, we have a 24h chat where you can ask, you never ask something and now complain when you went away?? maybe the problem was your poor attention and capacity to do simple work that 99% of the volunteers do without problems.

The hostel facilities were great and the tasks were straightforward and did not take long. There was little training in reception and often there wasn't anyone to help with issues. I had a situation where I didn't feel safe with a guest however, again there was no one to help. There were a few problems during my stay due to lack of communication and miscommunication between the team. Thilanka and Hassan, were absolutely amazing and always made sure we were welcomed and happy.

we have cameras on common areas to keep safe all the hostel and a chat with the staff 24h to help with any issues, your words are not correct, the only problem was you back several times drunk at deep night and your poor respect for the basic rules of the hostel.

Overall, the experience was good because of the people I met. Thilanka and Hashan were super nice. Thilanka was always there to help and be your friend. Unfortunately, there was a bed bug infestation that didn't go away the entire month (see reviews on Hostelworld & booking.com). It was also in one of the beds in the volunteer room and still there after I left. The owner was really disrespectful over text (was in Germany during). He wouldn't address the problem properly and would deny having bed bugs to guests (multiple guests say they emailed beforehand). Good location as it's near the train.

thanks to stay at Balarm hostel and help voluntering in our team, anyway you was voluntering not working so your time should to be spended to work 5 hours not to gave medical diagnosis to the guests or talk versus the owner decision (that have 15 years of experiences in the hostel managing); bed bugs problems are unfortunately commons in the hostels (in all the world) and we do all the possible to solve it as soon as possible , company disinfected the rooms after fews days (they are not available in 24h as you maybe think) and staff room was steamed solving the problem the same day, have a nice summer.

I stayed on the hostel for 2 weeks and had a great time! I was recieved by Lucia, one of their employees, and became really good friends in short time as we are both from Argentina :) She explained to me all my tasks and was patient and gave me clear instructions as in to how to do my work correctly. Also, Thanks to Lu and Massimo for understanding I had to leave early for a personal matter and offered me the flexibility to make up for the time in my tasks. The only things that were a little off were that I didn't know we had 2 shifts a day (5 hours total) but other than that, great place!
