What a great time I had here! I stayed almost three weeks but I could have definitely stayed longer. The kids are absolutely wonderful, eager to learn, and it's just a couple of hours per day. The accommodation's good and private, food is delicious and you feel welcomed by everyone! Late night jam sessions are my favorite. From Ahyak (host) to everyone else in the village, other volunteers .. I couldn't have asked for a better volunteering experience! Don't be afraid to stay here “longer”, it's actually a great place to be to slow down and rest if you're a long time traveler.

I am very sad to see Carmen leave.
The days with her were like a part of our family, fun nights singing together while sometimes we had casual discussions.
And of course it really helps the children to learn

Mr Ahyak was the most welcoming host, and his family made me feel so welcomed during Ramadan - we fasted together, prayed in the mosque, and had home cooked meals together. You will have the chance to truly get immersed in local culture & build deep relationships. Every night, we would play the guitar & sing together - you will be a part of the family from Day 1. The students were ages 6-22, and you have full freedom in leading the session. They are all so eager to learn! I even led a yoga class to the kids - it was so special. The nature in Lombok is also incredibly stunning!

Zahabia was a woman who was very passionate about teaching and even very passionate about delving deeper into the local culture. Her cheerful smile and her free laugh will make us miss her

I can't describe in words how amazing my experience at the lodge was. The people I met there will always have my heart, I work consisted of singing and sonetimes performing at a lovely restaurant with them, do I have to sag more? The food u get there is so good (I truly recommend Resti's pancakes) ! Ahyak will show u a few of his communities and u will meet a lot of beautiful souls and learn a lot about sustainable tourism. The hole family is just lovely and I already miss every single one of them.. I'll definitely come back!

Nothing short of an amazing stay here. Didn't regret coming here for a second. Asmuni offered some supreme hospitality and mr. Ajak made sure I felt at home and came in touch with the locals. Teaching the students is a lot of fun. They're very respectful and supportive of each other. If you want to do more teaching you will get the chance to visit some local schools and the students are always happy to see some new faces. It might seem like a quiet town but there is actually a lot to do here on your free time. A lot of waterfalls, hikes and beaches nearby. Would definately recommend coming.

Teaching the children was amazing! The children truly need this, and they are so grateful and enthusiastic. I ended up in a warm family that, during my now-extended stay, truly feels like my own family. I unexpectedly ended up in the hospital, and the family didn't leave me alone for a single moment. A huge thank you to the entire family! All of you will always have a special place in my heart 🫶 Being part of this community has been a blessing. This journey has given me not only unforgettable memories but also a second home. I know I will always have a home here to return to 🫶

My 3 weeks volunteering in East Lombok were nothing short of amazing! Uncle Ahyak, Opan, and his family welcomed me as their own, and the kindness of the local community made me feel right at home. Grateful for Masjho and Ryan for kindly driving us around. Teaching English to the kids was so heartwarming & rewarding—their smiles made every moment special. Living like a local, learning the culture, and exploring Lombok's stunning nature were unforgettable. This experience will forever hold a place in my heart. Terima kasih! Until next time 💚

Great volunteering experience! It's also a good place to try volunteering for the first time. Sadly I did not reach as much as I expected but the students are so cute and eager to learn! Everyone at the homestay is so welcoming and tries to make sure you have a good time. It was such a good opportunity to get to know the culture of Lombok and I am so thankful for that. I will definitely miss the music sessions in the evening. See you soon ✨

The project is a host association initiative to bring guest to exchange language and experience with kids and the community. As a music volunteer I practiced pop songs with Mr Ahyak and friends to perform on the farewell party. They provide a lot of flexibility, after the performance I got to teach a class and share with one of the teachers. This was the highlight for me and getting to share with other volunteers. If you are a light sleeper make sure to bring your earplugs as the call to player is loud and starts very early. I stayed in the guesthouse and the view to the lodge was so beautiful

I definitely recommend this experience; giving classes to the kids was amazing, they have so much energy and passion. It made me fill so fulfilled. They also organize activities for you to explore the island before your classes. My recommendation tho is to plan everything directly with mr ahyak. We organized an activity with his nephew and at the end of the day we felt like we were scammed, which is a common experience for tourists you just don't expect it in a place where you're volunteering. Definitely bring earplugs for the night, it can be quite noisy at night.

I was disappointed with the lack of structure around this program. Aside from the 2 hours of volunteering I did, there wasn't much to do during the day so I felt bored. You can sing with Ahyak and his family at night but I wish there was a more structured activity to participate in during the day. I also found the meals they provided to be quite small. Lastly, the rice the lodge cottage is not clean. There were holes in my bed sheets and I found 4 cockroaches in my bathroom one night.
