Mr Ahyak's family really welcome you not only into the homestay but the local communities. I spent 2 hours a day teaching English to a class of around 20 lovely children in the local village. This was flexible, I decided what to teach and played games based on their level of English. Around the teaching we visited various places such as the rice fields, waterfalls, other islands, and more, with the locals always welcoming you, wanting to get to know you and cooking you food. I met such special people here - the children, Lombok locals and volunteers! I hope to return in the future.

Was the most welcoming and feel at home place. Please choose your volunteer program wisely as the same host has 3 different programs and I went with the assistance at the cottage. The cottage is not really in operation, mainly houses the volunteers that assist in teaching English classes, so there was not much to do.Mr. Ahyak however is flexible and hopefully you are able to get a class to teach, and switch programs like myself. The local community especially located near to the cottage area are very hospitable and kind. Try to stay longer than a week as there is a lot to experience.

As a first volunteer opportunity i was a bit scared at first to teach english, understand how a worldpacker opportunity work, but at the end it was so much better than everything i imagine. Ahyak and his family welcome me and make me feel like home. They bring me everywhere to get in touch with local people, discover new area. I was teaching english to adorable kids in a garden and playing game with them. They really make an incredible substainable job, if you are looking to have a real good impact, help local and discover there culture, this is the opportunity you should apply for.

Ahyak is such a wonderful host! He makes sure your looked after and he has many volunteers to manage along with his own priorities. I had lots of fun teaching the kids they are so funny and you learn a lot about the culture from everyone you meet. In the evenings you can get involved in music performances as Ahyak is very good musician and loves music.

I had an unforgettable and unexpected experience with the local community during my time at the lodge. The people were incredibly kind, warm, and welcoming—it truly felt like a home away from home. I especially loved teaching students in the villages; it was a deeply rewarding experience. I ended up making so many genuine friendships that will stay in my heart and mind forever. If you're thinking about visiting this place, I highly recommend it. It's not just a trip—it's a meaningful journey you'll never forget.

My stay at the lodge Teracce was a very beautiful experience and a beautiful way to immerse myself in the local culture. Ahyak and his family are incredible kind and welcoming - from the first moment i felt like a part of their family. I learned so much during my stay not just about their way of life, but also about simplicity, community and being present. If you are looking for something authentic, heartfelt and full of meaning, this is the place 🫶🏼

Mr Ahyak loves his community so much and it is showing in his actions. I felt like I was part of the local community, and even part of Ahyak's family. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. I will forever remember teaching and playing with the kids, they were all very eager to learn English. I learned a lot being there, and I am very thankful that I got to experience this. Will definitely be back one day!

I absolutely loved my experience at the lodge Cottage! Mr. Ahyak and his family made me feel welcomed and like a part of their family from the moment I arrived. I also loved teaching the kids, they are very polite and eager to learn new things. On my free time I got to explore Masbagik and the surrounding areas with the other volunteers. My favourite part were the evenings, where we would all sit together and sing. I'm really thankful for everything and for the wonderful people I met there.

If i could only choose one place to volunteer I would choose this one. My time in Lombok was so special and it's all thanks to Mr.Ahyak and his wonderful family. The volunteering itself is quite relaxed, each afternoon you teach the kids in the community English, I was lucky enough to get the chance to work with Mrs Dewi and teach her students. The teaching is really rewarding but what made my stay so special is the people of Lombok. They were so welcoming and kind you instantly feel like you are part of the family. In your free time they help you explore the island.
