The experience

I am semi-retired and free from most schedules, so I can offer a guest the magic and mystery of Yukon, but I can also offer roadtrips around Yukon, BC and Alaska.

As my roadtrip companion, we can explore using a SUV as our vehicle giving us the option of tent, vehicle or hotel along the way.

Travel and explore, or stay local where you can learn Northern living. I am open to suggestions. I have arthritis in my spine, so I can't really hike.

What you offer

16 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Elderly Care: Assisting and spending time with the elderly.

Cooking: Choose the menu, pick ingredients and cook delicious dishes.

What you get

3 days off per week

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Program Details

Experience the awesome mountains and wilderness of Yukon, sometimes parts of Alaska! From the Midnight Sun in summer to Northern Lights in winter. The Magic and Mystery!

Share with me living a rustic wilderness life away from the digital speed of today. Share some adventures and sometimes crazy or challenging activities. We breath fresh air and the aromas of the trees, we do wilderness activities and occasionally a roadtrip. You visit my home and we will share Northern living as friends.

The house is located in a wilderness residential community near a large lake with cellular service and high speed satellite internet. We could shut off cell phones and laptops at home, we could use oil lamps for light and wood stove for heat. We can play board games at the kitchen table or we can watch a sound surround movie. (+700 dvds and streaming)

You can try therapeutic relaxation like Shinrin-yoku, Hydrotherapy or Freikörperkultur to digitally detox here. How better to connect with nature than a walk through the forest with plenty of conifers releasing phytoncides, natural hot springs, lakes and a hot tub? Lakes are summer only, but there are natural hot and warm springs in the area. Some are known, some are secret. Shhh! ;)

This is a personal stay where we share the adventure of wilderness living and help each other or challenge ourselves. “Life truly begins outside our comfort zone.”

I have been hosting 15 years (373 guests). I getting old and have arthritis in my spine, so I must slow down and make each day and hosting more meaningful. I will only accept one guest at a time.and I prefer those guests who have some empathy and understanding.

Activities & Shift

As a travel companion or guest at home, you can help with planning and cooking. No scheduled shifts - total freedom on where we should travel or what activities we should do.

Planning and packing for roadtrips.

Learn Northern life making firewood or cooking.

You can try therapeutic relaxation like Shinrin-yoku, Hydrotherapy or Freikörperkultur to digitally detox. Plenty of walking trails through the forest, natural hot springs, lakes and a hot tub.

Rules

No smoking, vaping or drugs.

Must have trust. We will be sharing a large single room rustic house or a vehicle, and all adventures.
