Where do I begin! I loved being part of the family at KGIS, and am hoping to stop by again before I leave Sri Lanka. I could not have hoped for a better experience, getting along well with the other volunteers, teachers and family. It is such a supportive and flexible environment that allowed me to grow as a teacher, traveller and person. I truly felt like part of the family and endlessly appreciate the love and support given to me. I would recommend this experience to anyone, and hopefully will be back myself!

I don't think I can thank Nisansala, Malik and Melina enough for the wonderful stay I had at KGIS. The work itself was super fun, the kids are the cutest and it was easy enough to communicate with them since they are learning English. But the rest of the day.. it's when I laughed the most. I felt like at home, with people who welcome you with all their hearts. I learned to cook traditional dishes, they showed me around Kandy, they always help you if want to go somewhere else on your free days... It was the best first volunteering experience and I would 100% recommend it to anyone.

Nisansala and her family truly make you feel at home. The location is a bit isolated, but they never allow you to feel alone or unsafe. Working with the kids is really fun, can be a bit tiring but everyday is new and exciting! If you want to get a true local experience and understand the Sri Lankan culture, I highly recommend!

This was my first volunteering experience and I haven't dreamed of it to be that good. The work is a little bit challenging the first few days before the kids get to know you and trust you. The kids are very smart and ready to learn from you. About Nisansala, Malik and Melina I don't know where to start. I haven't met more generous, kind, dedicated, Good people than them. Nisansala contacted me long before I arrived and helped me so much during my stay in Sri Lanka before arriving at the the school. They made me part of the family and I felt at home the whole time. Thank you, familyto ❤️

There's a reason why I call everyone at KGIS a family. Because as a volunteer, Nisansala takes care of you almost like you are her own child. She's an incredibly caring and hardworking woman who does everything to make your stay as comfortable and flawless as possible. Teaching English is as rewarding of a volunteering experience as it gets and the students at KGIS will most definitely mirror you how much they appreciate your presence there. Since volunteering at KGIS is still somewhat new, some structure still needs to be improved but for me it didn't impact it the experience too much.

The experience of my life. I have been treated like one of the family, they have helped me in everything, and I have felt loved and respected. Working with the children is simple and very rewarding. Also, the accommodation is perfect with a private bathroom. It's a unique experience to get to know the true culture of Sri Lanka. I recommend it without any doubt. I will be back!

Nisansala and her family are amazing, I had the best time with them, and I will come back 'cause it was truly one of the best experiences I've ever had. The kids are kind and polite, and it was a blessing to be able to spend time with them. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the culture, staying with locals and learning a lot from them, but also to have an impact on the future of the little ones. Such an honor to be part of this beautiful family <3

Even before starting volunteering here, Nisansala was so much active in checking on me, helping with details about traveling in Sri Lanka and being there for any question. Once I arrived at the the school, she took care about me as I was member of a family. This is how I felt, coming as a guest and leaving as a family member. The kids are sweet, they understand English, the premises are good ones, and they treat the children so nicely. She, her husband and their daughter are such lovely people, always taking care of us, cooking amazing food, telling us about local culture. Much love, Gabi

I couldn't have made a better choice taking this volunteering, it was one of the most incredible things I've ever done. I had the opportunity to teach 4 and 5 years olds. They are greatful, smiling, respectful and willing to learn from foreigns volunteers. Absolutely rewarding. The room where you stay is attached to the the school, it is spacious and comfortable. Nisansala and her family are absolutely wonderful. They'll make you feel very comfortable and will give you the best tips for visiting the area. I wish I had stayed much longer and I eager to return.
