Treungen was the second stop of my long-awaited visit to Norway. Lily and Trond welcomed me with much warmth and joy, introducing me to the peaceful valley of Nissedal—a magnificent mountainous enclave—where we spent three wonderful weeks together. October marked the end of the apple season, and our work thus included picking apples from a scenic orchard as well as pressing them for juice (which will eventually become cider). In addition to this, it was delightful to care for Luna and the birds and to assist my hosts with their renovation, learning about their plans for their beautiful farm.

Me and my boyfriend spent two weeks with Lily, Trond and the animals. It was our first experience like this so we didn't really know what to expect, but it turned out even better than we expected. Lily and Trond are open, heartfelt and funny people and it really felt like home while staying with them. They really tried to show us different kinds of work so everyday looked a bit different and we learned a lot. During the stay we experienced a lot, from heavy work, to animal care, deep talks and a lot more. We really recommend staying with Lily and Trond and really hope to come back someday!

This was one of the most enriching experiences I've had. The hosts are super open and caring people who make sure everyone feels seen and involved. The tasks were varied and well-suited to each volunteer. We did chores around the barn, cooked meals and tended the animals. I learned so much from Lily and Trond, not only practical skills but also about their way of living. The house is in a simple state due to renovations, but the atmosphere more than makes up for it: it was always full of good vibes. The fact that they host multiple volunteers at once made it really fun too. Highly recommended!

The two of us spent almost two weeks there and really enjoyed our time. We immediately felt at home and Trond & Lily knew how to create a pleasant and fun atmosphere. The day`s work was determined each morning and the tasks were adapted to the respective skills. The farm is relatively remote, but we had no problems enjoying our free time there. You can walk from there to the lake within 10 minutes for a quick swim. We were offered a lift often. Our highlights were the “family trip“, the BBQ, the amazing food every day and the dad jokes. Thank you for everything, we'd come back anytime! :)

Had a great time!! Wish I stayed longer as I felt very welcomed and comfortable. The lodging was good and the work and hours changed daily so it was always something new and interesting. Very flexible and friendly with clear instructions and expectations. Great dog and chickens, ducks not so much. Learned so much and got to spend time in nature that was very beautiful. 10/10 would recommend!!

The experience with Lily and Trond was truly amazing. We shared many unique experiences. We learned to follow the rhythm of nature — the best times to cut trees, gather firewood, and how to properly use an axe. They know how to make bread, beer, cider, and even vinegar, which is absolutely impressive! Spending time with them is also a great way to connect with the local culture , what people eat, how they think, and what they value. Living with them and their animals for 7 weeks was a real adventure — one of the best first impressions I've had in this country!

I spent two weeks with Lily and Trond in one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever seen. I felt very welcomed by them, learned a lot, got to know them, and had fun with their humor and joy and they helped me a lot when I had some issues with my flight. The experience exceeded my expectations, and I truly recommend it to anyone who loves nature and wants to meet incredible people and a cute playful dog :)

We were excited for farming and building, as stated on the ad. Sadly we only worked in the garden for 1 afternoon in the 2 weeks that we stayed. The rest of the time was mostly spend cleaning, doing dishes, organizing, feeding animals and moving lots of rocks/dirt from the basement. At arrival they told us that they would be gone for five days, so we were on our own. We get that they also need a vacation, but we would have liked to have known beforehand. For us it wasn't really what we had expected. Trond and Lily are nice so we think this could be a good place for some people 😄

They was also given task that are necessary and every WP are given, stuff like clean the house once a week, load and unload the dishes, tending to the chicken by giving them food and fresh water everyday and also watch them while they are out due to predators. Sadly some of those task are boring and not as exciting for some. In the time period they was here, there are not many garden task to be done. Due to certain circumstances, it was not possible to do any work inside while they was here.

Treungen holds a special place in my heart! In fact, I call Lily and Trond "my Norwegian parents," although I have to admit they have a much better sense of humor and are a bit more sassy than my real parents, haha. My days with them and Hera were simply unforgettable, but words can't quite capture everything I experienced (and the review has a character limit, so I can't go on too long!). From day one, I knew I made the right choice for my first experience, and I will definitely be back, because since I left I already miss them, and..the birth of the lambs. See you soon, my Norwegian parents!
