I left the 2nd day: hours/tasks weren't respected, communication styles clashed. The hours agreed were 25h,but he asked to do 30h. The host asked the volunteers to be β€œon” at all times while at the property even on days off, it blurred on/off times. There's a strict curfew that wasn't mentioned earlier. The gates locked at 11pm, if you missed you stayed outside. The room was small. The tiny shower was next to the bunk bed. In my experience, host's communication style made me feel unsafe. It could be due to different cultures, gender role expectations, and ideas of consent with females.

Living on the island has been a transformative experience for me. I almost immediately felt part of rhythms that often follow different rules than those I was used to (with the awesome plus of a Turkish Breakfast every day!). I met many local people and had fun doing things I didn't have much experience with – serving at the table and welcoming guests and customers, for instance. I am grateful for what I have had the opportunity to learn and the people I have met. I think that Sinan built (literally) an amazing place, but he would work more on his communication with different personalities.
