About the experience in: Tropojë, Albania

Disappointing. In two days, it became clear that the environment lacked respect for people, especially women. There was a noticeable difference in how men and women were treated—women were expected to cook, while men were not allowed in the kitchen. Gazmend's father yelled at me, and his mother didn't make me feel welcome either. The family identifies as conservative, but there's a difference between cultural values and respect for others. I felt so unwelcome that I was hesitant to eat, despite being told I could. Though the place is beautiful, the atmosphere made the experience uncomfortable.

She came with her boyfriend and we agreed that only her will be volunteering and to her boyfriend I gave a fair price for staying in my place.. and the they asked for a private room because they didn’t want to stay in the volunteer’s room.. it was all fine and I made a good price for them aswell.. the thing is she was volunteering in my place and her boyfriend was a guest not a volunteer and the kitchen is not just for the womens Rafaela but the kitchen is just for the people who are working there not for everyone.. and then she asked to have 2 days off in a week but I saw it was clear that she didn’t came to volunteer but they came just to chill.. Me and my family respected every single person who came in our guesthouse and didn’t have a single problem till now.. Im very disappointed on them!
