I had a great time volunteering at Hostel the hostel! It was a great opportunity to connect with Japanese culture and meet people from many different countries. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and I really enjoyed the cultural exchange. The location is super convenient — just three train stops from Namba, so it's easy to explore Osaka and get around. The only small downside is for people who like to cook often, since the kitchen has only a single electric burner. But everything else was smooth and enjoyable. Thanks for the experience!

I volunteered at the hostel for 2 months and it was such a memorable experience. The hostel is very much volunteer-run, as I only met the owner, Akari and her husband, Hyogo, once. Communication with them was done solely through the Line app, however they were always very responsive. The hostel itself is very small, only 3 guest rooms and 1 volunteer room, so it was hard at times to find your own personal space. Nonetheless, the location of the hostel is great as the train station is about a 2 min walk away. I met some life-long friends there and I would recommend this experience to anyone <3

Akari-San is a very sweet woman. I felt very welcomed by everyone from the moment I arrived at the hostel. I had an amazing time in the hostel with all the other volunteers. Everyone is so kind and ready to helo you anytime you need it. I'm so happy to have gotten this opportunity.

Akari-san is really nice and chill. All the tasks are equally organized for each shift and you have plenty of time to go out and tour. The hostel vibe is the best! also has a great location 2 min away from metro station. This was my first time in Japan and it was unforgettable thanks to the people I met here and the free time I had. Would totally recommend and can't wait to come back! Saludos desde Chile🇨🇱

My experience at the hostel, was amazing! Everyone welcomed me every well! I volunteered at the hostel a few months ago, and unfortunately I noticed this bad review... if you wanna go to the hostel and are worried, know that I volunteered with the guy who left a bad review, and I worked alone for SEVERAL days while he was at the hostel, and I saw him leaving the hostel countless times, while he was working, leaving the shift unsupervised.(ps: on his first day of volunteering, he left his partner WORKING ALONE while he was PLAYING CARDS with his friends) His review is extremely unfair and dishonest!

The hostel is amazing! what a nice place!! The location is perfect, close to everything, the hostel has a unique style, nothing fancy, but definitely a good place. We met a lot of fun people there and despite one person, the rest of the staff team was amazing, everyone was always hanging out together and enjoying Osaka. The work is easy at the housekeeping tasks and even easier at the hostel. Please do not trust in the 1 star review, we were there when he was there and for several times he just didn't show up to work. Akari (the owner) is a good person, always willing to help in what you need

I would not recommend this volunteering place. The hostel is managed only by volunteers, and without clear supervision or communication, things became confusing. During my stay, hygiene was terrible: showers had mold, there were cockroaches in the kitchen and dorms, and some sheets aren't cleaned. Volunteers tried their best, but without proper guidance or structure, it was difficult to keep good standards. When I shared my concerns, there seemed to be a misunderstanding, and I was asked to leave unless I stayed for a full month or paid. This is more an unpaid labour than a cultural exchange.

I was disappointed by how little time I spent at this place. It's 100% run by volunteers, with no supervision from the owner or a manager, so it often feels disorganized and neglected. The showers and kitchen were not clean (mold on the walls and on the floor) even the volunteers wore slippers to take a shower and bed sheets sometimes stayed dirty. When mentioned, we were told there wasn't time to wash them. The café inside was also poorly maintained, even serving expired milk. The area is nice and you can meet travelers, but don't expect real cultural exchange or proper management.
