Program Details

Volunteers work as part of the Hospitality Team. Working around 37.5 hours a week. Accommodation is provided free of charge with a weekly allowance for meals and basic toiletries via an online order from a supermarket. Laundry and cleaning facilities are provided. You will be living in shared single sex accommodation and likely to have your own room. You can mix with your fellow volunteers and get to know our instructors who live onsite too. Friendships are created for life on our programme.

After induction and training we like to get our volunteers straight into action. After training you would typically be expected to:
Clean & prepare the dining room for guests
Serve food to our guests
Assist with table plans and checking dietary requirements
Welcome guests into the dining room and advise menu details
Assist with cleaning and preparing the centre for our guests.

Activities & Shift

In return for working for us we provide day trips to UK locations so you can explore the country. there are bikes at the centre that you can borrow to cycle to local areas, and there are good bus routes nearby. Sometimes you will get to try the activities and help our instructors practice their teaching skills. It is quite secluded but a great opportunity to disconnect with the busyness of the world and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. You may sometimes work over the weekend depending on the rota and when guests are in, but you will have time of each week. We also provide some English lessons and encourage all volunteers to speak English while on site to improve their skills.

Rules

As a Christian charity we want to encourage all volunteers to grow in their Christian faith. Volunteers are expected to have a Christian faith, be committed to the centre’s Christian fellowship and will have regular Bible studies (in English) on centre as well as the opportunity to worship and get involved with a local church.
Email volunteers@rockuk.org to get more information and an application pack. Please apply in good time before you want to volunteer. Once you apply, then we will arrange an interview/chat with you via whatsapp video call, and we will need the references/police check etc before you arrive. This can sometimes take a week or two as staff may be away so please do leave enough time before the start date. We can do short turnarounds sometimes but we prefer 2 weeks (or more) advance notice where possible.
