Help in the general maintenance of the hotel/restaurant

I had a great experience working with the horses and riding. The finca is a beautiful place where you are immersed in nature. The volunteer bedrooms and outdoor showers are just the basics. Full access to the kitchen. It often doesn't feel like any indoor space exists, you are always outside with spiders, tarantulas, ticks, etc. and this should be considered seriously. Riding on the trails was absolutely incredible and there was so much freedom in the work. I met other kind and fun volunteers, but there was no leadership to guide us and few safety standards with the horses.

The experience at the Finca was very nice. We had a lot of freedom, Maria the host was very nice. You can spend a lot of time with the horses there and the people at the workshop are super nice and very helpful even if you don't really speak Spanish. And they really try to help you to learn some Spanish, the same with the people in the restaurant. They were also very helpful when you try to learn some Spanish. I was there for two months and it can get very quiet over there, but they are most of the time other volunteers, which who I had a lot of fun with.

Overall this was a cool experience, especially if you speak spanish so you can communicate with the staff. if not it's a great opportunity to learn! maria the host definitely has her favourites, which seemed unfair at times, but overall she was welcoming. sometimes we were asked to help in the kitchen/waiting tables, which wasn't in the description or agreed on beforehand. the horses and the guys who work in the workshop are great, you have a lot of freedom to do what you want. going to the lake for a swim is the perfect way to cool off and i made so many amazing friends.

This experience was a childhood dream coming true! Im so deeply grateful for everything i got to do here. The work was sometimes not clear, but maria is very flexible and chill. She expects you to try and work 5-6 hours a day and you get 2 days off. The work with the horses doesnt feel like work at all. You feed them at 7, take care of them (brush, detick, sometimes wash) and ride them (alone, with other volunteers or with tourists). If this was done you could help out in the kitchen (mostly dishes) or some projects they were working on. Make sure you speak some spanish tho!

My experience at the Finca didn't go how I expected. I applied as an english teacher but when I arrived I was asked to work at the restaurant as a waitress. I explain I didn't feel comfortable doing that so I was ask to leave earlier the place. Otherwise the facilities were good (I had my own private room) and the staff was welcoming. I believe if you go there to work with the horses is an amazing volunteer opportunity!

I had an amazing time staying here and they even took my out to experience a local Guatemalan Christmas! The maintenance work was different and had tasks from sanding and varnishing chairs to planting trees. All the staff were really nice and understanding. I would recommend being able to speak a bit of Spanish as it will help a lot. I would definitely recommend!

I enjoyed my stay at the guest house. Once I had a couple days to settle into life there (mainly the bugs!) I felt very comfortable. The accommodation is basic but has all you need and the food availability was great - I ate well here. The staff are friendly and helpful, most speak little English so it is a good place to practise Spanish. Once Maria had returned she took the time to get to know all us volunteers and made sure we were settled and had enough work to be getting on with in the day. Days off were flexible and the work itself was good. Thank you for my stay!

Although I didn't get to spend long at the guest house (the staff were really understanding when I had to leave early due to family circumstances), I really enjoyed the time I spent there! You work with the horses in the morning, and have most of the afternoon free to explore the gorgeous area! Everyone was very kind, and it was a great way to practice my Spanish, as not many of the staff speak English. Although there are lots of bugs (you're pretty much in the jungle), and the accommodation is quite simple, it's very peaceful, and a great place to be!!

I really liked my stay at the finca, the whole area is full of beautiful nature. In the morning i worked with the horses (fed and cleaned them) i didnt really have much experience riding or with horses in general but the guys working there were always there to help!:) All in all the staff is really nice but it's better going there speaking at least a little spanish. I would really recommend this volunteering for people that like being in nature, working with horses (also not being scared of them) and don't mind ticks, mosquitoes, snakes and spiders as it is kinda located in the jungle:)

Fincaixobel is a great place to connect to the nature surrounding you, the place they created here is really peaceful :) The cave tour we could join was very fun so definitely recommend! You should definitely bring good shoes with you, if you wanna do hikes and work with the horses cause there are ticks. The food you can prepare in the kitchen is really nice, they also have a bakery where they bake really nice banana bread and cinnamon rolls. Thanks to Maria for creating that place !
