I had a great experience overall and truly enjoyed the people I worked with. I ended up working solely in the Pub which was great but somewhat overwhelming at times. There isn't any training provided but if you've worked in a restaurant before you'll be fine! I was truly grateful for the community that I got to know and was able to enjoy the beauty of the West Coast of Ireland during my stay.

My experience at the guest house was overall good! The staff was lovely, food and accommodation were good and as described. The only issue I had with my stay would be that schedules get switched around at the last minute and was often asked to stay around at the guest house to check in guests even if I had already done my hours for the day. However, if you communicate with Geraldine she's really amazing at working around your desired schedule or giving you the hours off a different day if you worked extra, so be firm on your boundaries and communicate! Newport is a cute down, decently connected by bus.

The room was cozy and had the minimals needed. Only room issue was the slamming doors from kitchen and b&b heard constantly. The work is hard on the body and you have to move at a quick pace but you get use to it. Only feedback is management, could be more organized with scheduling and verifying everything is in stock for restaurant and rooms at the time it's needed. And do not ask/assume packers want to work overtime as most of us are doing this to travel and see Ireland. The town is absolutely adorable and beautiful! Take advantage of visitor center and bus schedule. Hiking, walking, etc

The town was very pretty and the room was nice however there was very little training and you were expecting know what to do. Communication on when you were working often lacked sometime you knew a week before other time it was either a few hours before or almost no notice.

The guest house is a beautiful, all the staff are really kind. The town is small but it is very well connected and you can visit other villages. I recommend it if you want to connect with the country culture and nature, the Greenway to Achill is beautiful. The staff and the locals are very nice and welcoming.

I had a good time in Newport working and living in the Bridge Inn. Everyone from Geraldine to Anette, Louise, Regina and Eileen and all the other volunteers were really nice and made me feel welcomed. As in other reviews stated the work is straight forward and you need to adapt fast, but you can always ask someone if you need help. If you communicate early enough you can get specific days off e.x. for travelling. The only two downsides were that I got the staff room which was dirty when I arrived (dust and cob webs) and that there was no heating in december which made every room extremly cold.

My experience at the guest house was my first at Worldpackers and it was wonderful! The work is divided between helping in the kitchen, organizing and cleaning rooms and serving at the bar. It's not difficult but requires a little agility. I stayed in a room alone, which for me was a very positive point. The city is very small but very cute perfect for good walks. Geraldine is the manager and she is very nice, I felt very good working with her. Seamus is the owner and is a very relaxed person to live with. Regina is the head chef and is a sweet person, funny and prepares wonderful meals. The othe

It was my first experience in volunteering and it was really enriching. I've learned a lot of new tasks. The work is pretty dynamic and I think people who go there has to be prepared for that. In the end, you will undestand that this is their way of working and running the business. The meals are delucious and Regina, the cook, and Geraldine, the manager are lovely; however, the staff is very nice in general. I'm very grateful for this experince.
