Volunteer with Sea Turtles in a Beachfront Project – Costa Rica🐢

I absolutely loved my time here, and I wish I could've stayed longer! Milo and Sonia were so sweet and helpful, I made so many new friends in the other volunteers here, and I loved getting to be involved with this project. The beach and nature here is incredible, the baby turtles are adorable, and the community was awesome. The workload was very minimal, so be prepared for lots of time to enjoy a slower pace of life, and try to plan some fun outings nearby. Also, bring lots of bug spray and sunscreen!!!

I had an amazing time here! Milo and Sonya are so welcoming and accommodating. The sea turtle work is so rewarding. My favourite part was liberation (letting the baby turtles go). It felt so good to see them reach the ocean. I personally thought it was a good balance between the volunteer work and free time, and I love that we were right on the ocean. I would definitely come back and do it again.

I had an amazing time at the shelter! Milo was wonderful and it was amazing to be a part of something that is lead but the pure compassion of his heart! Sonia is lovely and makes delicious food! Something to keep in mind that if you are not fluent in Spanish, maybe reach out to them first to make sure other volunteers are present that can translate. Otherwise you will use a lot of Google translate and the night walks will be long! But with a translator you will love it! I learned so much Spanish in my time here I am so grateful for it!! Unforgettable experience!

I truly enjoyed my stay in the shelter. Milo is really passionate about turtles and Sonia prepares delicious meals. It was magical to see the turtles during the night patrols and releases. I would 100% recommend this volunteering to anyone who wants to experience a break in the middle of nature.

The shelter is a truly magical place and I genuinely had such a special time here. The people, the place and the turtles were all a dream. Milo & Sonia and their lovely family provided us with everything we needed and they kindly made me delicious vegetarian meals as well. The night patrols were such an experience and I feel really lucky to have witnessed the mama turtle lay her eggs and also managed to see some babies hatch. An amazing experience that i'll cherish forever! Thank you!

I really enjoyed my stay at the shelter. I was the only person who's first language was English but Milo made sure to have a volunteer that translated which was very helpful. It's very much slow, off grid living which I love but I know some other people may not like. I'm also vegan and they made sure to prepare me delicious Costa Rican dishes daily!! Overall the experience was one I'll cherish forever. Getting to see a mama sea turtle laying eggs on my last night made all the late night walks so worth it. I would highly recommend this experience to people who love nature.

Great experience to know more about turtles. I wouldn't recommend to go in early June though as it was empty days and walks during the night. I am sure that during peak turtle season it must be incredible! You can always get out of the island to go visit Quepos and Milo is very accommodating.

My time at the shelter was very relaxed, engaging, and rewarding! The days are very free-going and most of the work was done during the night/early morning. Milo and his family were super easy-going and helpful. I had a very enjoyable time here, meeting new people and making good change:) but make sure to bring lots of mosquito repellent and sunscreen !!
