Living and working in the jungle to help rehabilitate the shelter has been an unforgettable experience both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Every day is spent alongside a dedicated team, caring for animals that have rescued. Watching them recover and regain their natural behaviors is truly heartwarming. The bond formed with both the animals and the team creates a sense of purpose and family that makes the hard work worth it. The living conditions definitely aren't a 5 star hotel. Just be prepared to be throw in it.

I had a great time at the shelter, it's the perfect place to meet people who are passionate about helping animals. The work can be challenging but is always rewarding. You are working with wild animals and living in the jungle so be prepared to get stuck in.

I had a great experience working with the spider monkeys, watching how they interact and communicate with each other was really fascinating. You can tell everyone here is committed to the animals well-being and the goal of rehabilitation and release. It's great to be part of a team that genuinely puts the animals first. That said, the life in the jungle has its challenges. The living conditions are very basic and the humidity means you're always a bit damp and your clothes never quite dry. But if you're passionate about the shelter it's definitely worth it!

This experience was amazing! I stayed for 4 weeks and got to work with the spider monkeys. I loved the work and the monkeys. I will say that there were a few hard things. Absolutely no personal or private space whatsoever. If your not on shift, You are often around people, and smoke. If you love people and you smoke then this is not an issue at all. I generally love people but I am not a smoker so this aspect was hard. However, do not let this deter you, the shelter is a great place to help animals and really be immersed in the jungle! They definitely need volunteers. Thanks the shelter!!

We absolutely loved our time at the shelter. It was incredible to work at a place where they are really rewilding the animals. It was hard work in the heat and humidity, but definitely worth it!

Hello travelers and volunteers, this experience was the best one I ever had. The people and the host are amazing and working with the shelter and learning about it is something that I would recommend everyone! If you volunteer here, you are really helping the animals to have a better future. The accommodation is simple but does the job and it's actually really nice to have a bit of a rest from social media and your phone. You will meet a lot of new people: travelers and locals and I guarantee that you will enjoy your time there. I will definitely go back one day!!

Volunteering at the shelter is a raw, real and life-changing experience. You'll help animals like capuchin, tamarin and spider monkeys, as well as support jaguars and other felines in recovery. The conditions are tough—humidity, mosquitoes, and no internet—but it's worth it. It's not for those seeking an easy time or social media content. This is hands-on hard work, driven by love for animals and their future. If you're ready to commit, the shelter will leave a lasting impact on you. The animals and the team truly need every bit of help, and the experience will give you memories you'll never forget.

I really enjoyed my time at the shelter, it really was a once in a lifetime experience for me. I loved working with the Capuchin monkeys and the Margay Cefi. The living conditions are rustic but I loved the community vibe of cooking for each other and the lack of internet was great as you really got to know people and there was lots of times for games! Communication could sometimes be better but it's something that is being worked on and I had already seen improvements when I was leaving.

It was a great experience to live in the jungle with the animals. The people were all nice and there really is a small community. You work more for the animals than with them and that's just the right thing. The shifts (AM and PM) can also be exhausting at the beginning but you get used to it. But everyone wants everyone to have a good time! You often work a little longer, but the work is fun so it's okay. And you only have 1.5 days off ,but still enough time to relax in town. It's great to be able to take part in such a great project and I would recommend the experience in the shelter!
