The experience

Volunteers will be treated as part of the family, sharing our special home in the countryside. We need help with gardening, we have a large flower garden and grow our own vegetables. At mealtimes we appreciate volunteers doing their share of washing up and meal preparation. We provide support to volunteers to supervise tasks so experience not necessary but some knowledge would be an advantage. Enthusiasm and interest in gardening essential.

Program Details

Gardening tasks include weeding, pruning, planting and clearing. There may be a specific maintenance project such as painting. If the weather is too wet to be outdoors then time may be spent on household tasks such as cleaning, ironing etc.

Activities & Shift

We can be flexible on the daily start and finish time for activities - it will sometimes be weather dependent. Volunteers usually do a few hours in the morning then break for lunch followed by a couple more hours. Helping us five days in the week with two free days when we encourage them to explore the local culture and sights.

Rules

Volunteers are asked to respect our home while at the same time making it their home for the duration of their stay. We will provide food for all meals and have our main cooked meal in the evening which we eat together. If volunteers are happy to cook the evening meal occasionally that is always welcome but is not a requirement.
