Gaëlle and Ben are great hosts and really encourage you to interact and learn with the locals and the pilgrims, take local hikes and explore surrounding towns. They have a different set up to many 'homestay' arrangements. You have full independence and live in a separate apartment from the hostel and hosts home. Instead, you live with the other volunteers, cooking together, playing boardgames, arts, crafts and music making in your down time, or, stay in your room, your space is wholly respected :)

I had an amazing time volunteering at the hostel! Ben and Gaëlle are both wonderful people to work for and with and they really create a family environment between everyone at the hostel. I feel I learnt a lot working here especially working with the wonderful chef Julie! I am also not at all a singer and after a month of refusing they even got me to sing in the hostel on my last night🤠 generally a wonderful experience the work was enjoyable, I got to practice lots of French and there were lots of friends to be made in the village:)

My time at Répos the hostel and in Monistrol d'Allier was truly enriching. The place is peaceful and beautiful, with nice trails, a river beach to relax, and cute little villages nearby. I really enjoyed working in the restaurant, serving pilgrims, eating tasty food, and sharing special moments while watching them sing with Gaëlle and Ben. Marketa and Juli are a fantastic team, and they made me feel very comfortable. Everyone there is so unique and artistic, such an inspiration. It's the perfect spot for learn about Camino de Santiago and french culture.

This place is perfect for anyone looking to refocus breathe in the fresh countryside air, and meditate away from the noise of city life. It's also a great starting point for beautiful hikes in the area, and a quiet spot for self-reflection. I appreciated the variety of tasks I got to do during my stay. What had made the experience truly special was the people I met : kind and funny volonteers, and interesting travelers I never would have crossed paths with if it weren't for the unique nature of the Camino de Santiago. Thank you Gaëlle, Benjamin, and Julie the talented cook for this experience

I have had an amazing three weeks here and was very sad to leave. Gäelle, Benjamin and their children are such a lovely family. They are a pleasure to be around. Everyone was very kind, patient and helpful. It was a very relaxing stay, It's a very quiet place but it's exactly what I wanted. Every day I would work, then go to the river or for a walk and then gather for everyone for dinner. The food was AMAZING and I had a really good time helping Julie in the kitchen and talking. And thanks so so much for helping me practice French. This was very beautiful stay and I will always remember it.

I had a wonderful few weeks volunteering here! Gaelle and Benjamin are so kind and welcoming and made me feel at home as soon as I arrived! Accommodation is an apartment around 10 mins walk from the hostel and was super nice! Tasks were simple and well explained, I mostly helped in the kitchen and serving dinner which was fun, learned some great new recipes, and Gaelle taught me about the flowers and their healing uses which was super interesting! Great nature in the area too! Thanks again for my time here!!

I really enjoyed my time at the hostel! Everyone was so welcoming and really made me feel very safe, comfortable and happy. Gaëlle, Benjamin and Julie were all absolutely fantastic and so kind. The work was very easy and casual. The countryside was very beautiful and it was wonderful to get back in touch with nature and enjoy all of Gaëlle's many incredible drinks and balms made from the local plants (really amazing btw). I felt my confidence with speaking in French improved and it was a very comfortable place to practice! Absolutely brilliant place!!

It was so great spending 5 weeks with the team at the hostel, I spent my shifts in the kitchen doing various tasks including baking and in my downtime I got to know the area hiking and training up for my own Camino adventure. Gaëlle, Julie and Benjamin are so welcoming, you work with a team including several volunteers and when you include the pilgrims themselves you get to meet people from everywhere :)

The most warm welcoming, kind and talented family I've ever met in my life! Working hours were flexible and it was very comfortable to work with the whole hostel team. Hostel is full of art opportunities and every night there is an amazing good music show (thank you for letting me be a part of it) Since the first day in Monistrol I truly fell in love in this place and these people. The place I stayed was beautiful, the other volunteers were also very cool guys. Thank you Gaëlle and Benjamin for such an amazing travel experience, it was a great pleasure to meet you, your kids and dogs!

Come to the hostel! You will not regret it. You'll meet great people, learn about the local flora and fauna, eat good food, hear (and/or play!) amazing live music in the evenings, and see the beautiful mountains and rivers. But most importantly, you will get to know Benjamin and Gaëlle, the two most singularly amazing hosts you could have!
