I felt very welcome as soon as I arrived. The tasks were manageable, the vegetarian food was great and the property is just amazing. However, the facilities are very open to nature so if you cannot cope with outdoor showers, no-flush-toilets and sleeping in a tent then I would recommend you think about your stay once again. However, I learned a lot, met the coolest people there and listened to many interesting stories. I enjoyed my stay. Thank you, Atta and Doris for this experience.

I highly recommend volunteering with the family at the home. They are truly amazing hosts who make you feel at home all the time and share their knowledge and values respect to nature and humanity. I learned how to use natural resources and their efficiency and new construction techniques. It's a paceful environment full of nature to be explored. Maia is such a special dog that you'll fall in love with her.

Our time with Doris, Ata, Asher, Jovee and Maia gave us a great insight in the New Zealand nature and how to respect the environment surrounding us, thanks to their incredible property! Spending some time with this family is perfect if you're new to the country, but also if you've done some travels and want a quiet place for rest. We recommend visiting these guys! It was a very interesting and learning experience for me and I was sad when it came to an end. The hosts are two very kind and interesting humans who will look out for your well-being as well as introduce you to interesting concepts and make you think and question your beliefs and way of being. While I'm not sure it's for me long term, I learned a lot about sustainable, and somewhat more self-sufficient, life off-grid. The place is beautiful and the pictures can't really do it justice. I think I left with a better understanding of some of the state and history of the environment in the area.

I was really looking forward to this experience, but that was probably the work-exchange where I felt the least welcome. I would not recommend it. Me and the other volunteer that was there at the time had to leave early because we could not get along with Ata. Doris and the kids are lovely. The work instructions were pretty vague, even when we asked for more directions which made completing the work pretty hard. Overall the instructions and the feedback were usually contradicting which made it difficult and uncomfortable. Although I was expecting it, but living conditions are very very basic.

Annie was one of the few people we had to let go earlier than arranged. Guests usually start with very basic tasks like weeding to familiarise themselves w others and the property. If they apply themselves, they can move to more complex projects. Annie did not get to this stage. She already left the first task incomplete. When asked about challenges, she did not communicate but withdrew. This pattern repeated itself over the next days and unfortunately made it impossible to work together.
