I really enjoyed my experience at the organization. I joined the scuba diving project, which meant I did not spend as much time at the community centre, however the time I did spent there I really enjoyed. The staff, local volunteers and international volunteers are all super kind and friendly, and you can see the good that they do for the community here. The marine conservation project was super cool, I got my diving certificate and the dive centre that they work with also have really nice instructors and were really welcoming. Overall, I would highly recommend volunteering here! :)

I completed the diving program involved with the organization, the diving program was amazing you receive your B1 after one week, see the reef and pick up trash on the seabed was a really enriching experience. Lunch was great, I did need more fruit than provided but grocery stores are close by . Fun Spanish classes, workshops, dancing, climbing and group projects were all on. Apartment is amazing location. I had issues with lost luggage and cancelled flight and the staff were amazing at helping me sort this out. This is a great experience to incorporate diving and NGO work, highly recommend!!

Being part of the organization was definitely one of the highlights of my first experience in Spain. All the people I met, from the host, the international volunteers and the locals, where just the kindest people you could imagine! I'd highly recommend this experience to anyone that really wants to learn about the local culture and community in Barcelona!

It was an experience in which I learned for better and for worse. The approach to local volunteers was very enriching. Seeing other realities allowed me to have personal growth as a professional.

The organization is great if you want to experience an international community and NGO contributing to multiple different projects. I really enjoyed working in the permaculture garden, the foodbank and handing out food to homeless people. The other volunteers make it an awesome experience! You do have to be open to change, as the schedule can change at any moment and a lot was different than communicated. For example, you only get cooked lunches and for the other meals you can take what you want from the foodbank to cook for yourself.

I enjoyed my time at the organization, however it has some issues. While the organization has great intentions and I loved all of the activities, the structure is a bit shaky. The communication was often unclear and I was frustrated with the lack of direction at times, but it did offer an opportunity to just fill a role where I thought I could be helpful. The people were all amazing, the food was good, and accommodation was nice but too many people where there wasn't supposed to be. Also, having a background in Spanish will help to fully engage in the experiences.

Hi Jessie,
Many thanks for your feedback, it's always helpful to improve ourselves. Thanks also for your commitment during your stay with us.
We are mindful that sometimes humanitarian projects with international volunteers can be shaky since we have to daily face unexpected situations with very low resources.
Thanks to your comment, we remain humble and keep giving our best to support families the NGO is attending.

Perfect first volunteering experience. From the very first day I felt welcome and encouraged to become a member of the organization family. It was a great stay that taught me a lot about community life and proactivity, I felt I was given an opportunity to make real impact on the locals and the neighborhood. At the same time I felt I had more than enough time for myself, exploring and enjoying Barcelona, making contacts, deep connections and friendships that will last. Couldn't recommend it more.

Great stay! Definitely wish I stayed for longer Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. All the volunteers and staff make you feel at home and get you involved in the activities Most people speak Spanish but they still welcome you to the family it's a grey place to learn or practice Spanish Muchos Gracias toda 🙏🏽 💜

The organization is a community center with enormous potential. I met incredible people and made precious friends. The volunteer coordinator is patient and understanding. Unfortunately, in my modest opinion, this place is a chaotic mess due to the host that lacks integrity, compassion, and empathy. The FEW locals that actually enter this center are wonderful. Local and foreign volunteers told me they felt like they were being exploited. For me, the facilities and living conditions are disgusting and barely livable. For me, this place should never be able to distribute food or host volunteers.

Many thanks for your feedback Santi, indeed we all are very grateful for your comment which helps us to remember that leading an NGO and hosting volunteers is not an easy thing everyday. We also have to accept we can't satisfy everyone's expectations but fortunately a large majority of our volunteers are having amazing experiences with us and are happy to contribute to the important social impact the NGO is bringing to the 250 families we attend every year. Thanks to your criticism and behaviors with us during your short stay, we explored many ways to increase the satisfaction of volunteers, but we need to remain humble and accept that we can be limited with some people. In your comment you judged in a couple weeks the work of 6 years and it’s your right. Even if you did your best to demotivate the team during your stay, you are not the first to try it and won’t be the last; fortunately even if are not perfect we are in continuous improvement loop and plenty of people here are committed and grateful for years about it, and always happy to come and collaborate.
To conclude, I will be glad to listen to your experience the day you will have led your NGO for six years and wish you to be able to do a better job than us.

The organization is a really special place to meet wonderful people all around the world, from the moment I stepped in the centre it felt like home, as if I had been there forever! I enjoyed my time here and it was a great place to practice my Spanish. I would definitely recommend! The only thing I would say is that the volunteering involves a lot of cleaning of the centre which was super clear, as long as that's something you are happy with there are lots of projects and people you can get involved with around you. All you have to do is ask! ❤️
