My personal experience at the eco village was good. The place is beautiful, the tasks were manageable and the shifts were respected (even though there was sometimes a considerable lack of organization). But on a few ocasions, they called us out for not respecting the rules, but they didn't understand that most of us were unfamiliar with their practices and didn't know that we were doing things wrong (I am talking about things like playing cards or wearing clothes that were too revealing for them), so I feel like they could have been more gentle or empathetic sometimes.

First of all, the permaculture garden this place is named after is not in use - No permaculture course is provided. And yoga is twice week, not every day. If u want interesting, challenging conversations about religion this is a good place to go. Peaceful surroundings, accommodation is simple but nice except Not really anywhere to hang out for volunteers inside. And it was a bit dirty due to no real system for cleaning in the volunteer area of the guest house. Good food:) nice opportunity to experience the rituals in the temple. Some devotees are very sensitive to criticism of their religion.

Everyone there was extremely kind and welcoming, and volunteer hours were completely respected. However, it was quite difficult to find things to do during free time, and there was a large religious presence (Hare Krishna), which I didn't expect, as it wasn't mentioned on the profile. I ended up leaving early, as that just wasn't for me.

I had a nice time here! The work was quite easy and the hours were set out clearly and respected, but they're spread across the day which doesn't leave as much free time as expected. The profile says veggie/vegan food, but when I first asked what was vegan I was told everything has milk. After, there was an effort to make (GOOD) vegan food, but I still ate dairy a few times :/ Definitely research ISKCON before going, for me it was overwhelming to arrive and find that the spiritual permaculture farm was actually a religious sect where people always preach to you. But the chants were good.

Thank you Jocelyn for your stay and help.
Sorry if we could not provide a variety of different dishes as vegan
We where hesitent to tick the 'vegetarian/vegan' box on the profile as we are in deed not able to garentee full vegan meals but we are 100% vegetarian. So we wrote in our profile we can't garentee vegan meals. Very sorry for your inconvenience in this regards.

Regarding the last paragraph we thank you for this feedback we did warn the residents and visitors that they should not try to push there philosophy what ever it is to volunteers. It is in reality often the case anywhere we go we meet some people who strongly share there opinions, believes, practices.. as here is a place where we have the opportunity to meet so many different persons it is more likely to meet few of thoses personalities. Some of the words you use are quite pejorative words belonging to the western history. ISKCON is the main branch of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Madhva Sampradaya with roots which goes back 5000 years ago. It has been recognized as such all around the world, and has ashrama in all countries. The foundation of the tradition is the Bhagavad Gita, the oldest text on the science of the Soul, Yoga, Karma, Reincarnation ect...
This spiritual tradition is followed by millions of people around the world since millennium with the goal to understand who we are and become the best version of ourselves.

As my first volunteering experience it exceeded my expectations positively. The community was really welcoming, caring, helpful... The main host Nayana communicated well and was active, replied fast. The place had AMAZING food, landscapes and animals. The schedule was quite busy with longer mealtimes so I didn't get enough time to do my own job in computer. I met a lot of cool volunteers who I become friends with and we even continued together our travel. Going to miss the place, thank you for everything!

I was very well received and very well treated. They are very kind and gave me all the support I needed. The services are okay, they are not difficult but you need to be dedicated and pay attention to what you're doing. My favorite was taking care of the garden. If you are looking for a place to connect spiritually, this is the place. This was my first experience as a volunteer and unfortunately I had trouble adapting. But they were totally understandable and understood my situation. I would like to point out that I was very well received and very well treated by everyone there.

I would have given more than 5 star if possible. They are organized, respectful , loving and it feels like a family to be there. And doing service feels like devotion to Krishna and not work. Food is very very good and stay is also clean and comfortable. I loved every minute here and i would recommend it to everyone.

I had a lovely experience in the eco village. I met people from different parts of the world, the hours were respected and the food is great. There were others volunteers so I made some friends and we had some fun. I also got to practice my English, Spanish and French. And improve my abilities in video editing, since this was one of my jobs. Overall it was a good experience!

The experience at the eco village was amazing💕🙏✨!! Good food, great accomodations, very nice people! I also enjoyed the programs at the temple and the Harinaam program in the streets of Tours!🤩 The working hours are completely respected. The only negative thing that I could point is that the shower in the ladies bathroom is not very warm😅, but even with this I totally recommend the experience! 🤗
