The experience

I'm the proud owner of a beautiful castle rebuilt in the XIV and XVIII century, in the heart of the forest of Burgundy.
If Living in the building as it is, is marvellous, Lands and park require work.
Having Volunteering Practiced on sites during many years we are able to speak many languages. Friends Worldwide are Welcome.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Get free drinks or beverages.: Drink up! Get free and tasty drinks for yourself.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Permaculture Course: Take part in our Permaculture course for free.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Program Details

If Living in the building as it is, is marvellous, Lands and park require work.
We expect in first clearing the Limits of land, cutting trees, planting fruit trees.
We are planning the clearing of trees and the preparation of firewood.
Many dry stone walls will have to be reassembled, others renovated with traditional methods. Reworked paths.
The ivy of the walls will have to be contained.


Activities & Shift

Welcome to all of you who would like to come and help us restore terrace. The participatory workcamp will take place from September 27 th till 7 th October 2025. Reassembly of the collapsed dry stone walls, of certain walls with mortar, removal of the ivy from the wall, repair of the joints and lime plaster. Methods in the respect of traditions, an idyllic setting at the foot of the castle of Barjon in Bourogne. We are north of Dijon in Burgundy, 13 km from Is sur tille. Accommodation and meals taken together at the castle, help requested in the kitchen to peel the vegetables, make the bread and participate in community life (setting and clearing the table or doing the dishes, etc.).
The evenings are very pleasant and well watered with burgundy wine or other local product, near the large wood stove.

Rules

Don't really expect castle life because you work hard and the days are busy. Provide good work shoes and warm clothes that are not afraid of being damaged. Possibility to pitch the tent.
